There's "cool, this is a fun leg up" and there's "one-shot everything that so much as looks at you." It seems to be that the starting greycloak items are WAY more the latter than the former, and it makes them feel kinda lame and overpowered, not neat.

I think part of it is because your weapon is such a major source of your damage output.
The Dire Crow - Tiefling TR
Alice L'ddell - Human GF
Ludovique - Tiefling DC
Also, the level cap is 60, level 1-15 are not meant to take several days (of actual playing time) to get through. Furthermore, if it really bothers you that you're having a slightly easier time with easy content, you can always just use the drops you get along the way instead. You're not forced to equip Greycloak's Legacy, it's an option. If it bothers you that others are having a slightly easier time with easy content, you're not going to find much sympathy for your position from those players.

I like the concepts of heirloom gear, but it just feels a bit wrong for a bunch of levels. Thankfully things eventually taper off, and yes, you can choose to not use the bonus

You're free to just not use it if it bothers you so much to be stronger for a little while.
