I was just wondering if we could get the official word on if Ardent coins have now become a once per day reward for invoking? They used to be given out each time you invoked which seemed much more reasonable considering the cost of some of the Ardent items. If they are now a once per day rewards, could you tell us the reason for this switch?

The group I run with has determined the daily reset is around 8am pdt. you'll get rewards for the first 3 invokes, afterwards you'll get a buff (and randomly an item).
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.
Yes, I understand it is still in Beta and everything is subject to change. I also understand that this is Beta and things can/do/will bug and not work correctly. Hence my asking if this was an intended change, or if I ran into a problem.
1 coin per day is absolutely terrible. At this rate, it will take over 2 years just to get the mounts and companion. Also, on an unrelated note, is there seriously no feedback forum? I refuse to believe that this is a serious beta if there is not a place specifically for giving feedback.

The Ardent and Celestial Coins are form of loyalty rewards. The Ardent coin is for playing over long period of time. The Celestial coin is for playing consistently. All that is required it to log into a character and performs one action. Not that much of a commitment at all.

Of course this is not seriously a beta it is a launch. Besides that I have zero problems with how lonh it takes to get the items. Thdy are not gamebreaking items to not have. I see it more just being a cool reward for people who are active in games for a long time. I usually get bored within 6 months in mmo so doubt I will ever see anything nice with them.

I didn't say anything about how you obtain them, it's the fact that you get a single coin per day, with rewards costing 100-350 coins. As I said, it will take at least a year just to get the companion.

Yes.
they've been quoted in an AMA saying they wanted the companion to take a year to earn. Do you have a problem with that?
so ? I'm in no hurry to get the angel of OP-ness .

I would honestly buy the angel if they put it up for Zen, and I really hope they do if only to regulate the price somewhat when people start putting them on the AH in a year. It's the only pet in the game I would consider spending money on, and ironically the one pet I'm likely never going to be able to get. I have never logged into a character for 360 days, not even close. My longest played characters in any game have like 20 days /played on them and that's usually done over a period of 30-60 days (yes I have no life and often play games for more than 12 hours a day).
It wouldn't be so bad if they altered the tooltip on the ardent coins in the inventory, it doesn't state at all that they are a once a day item like the celestial coins show, ardent coins say they are given when you use the prayer. Hemce most people would think that these are given per prayer every hour. Please alter the caption for the ardent coins so people know exactly what time frame they are given in.
Assuming we get Paladins any time in the next year...
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
The Ardent coin system is yet another exsample of Cryptic's complete lack of any thought in this game. In theory its a good idea, you give people a reason to log on, and stay logged in, or to log in every hour, and or, day. However, you might think that would cause them to think to themselves "Hmm, if it takes logging on every day in order to get rewards, maybe we should make the goals reachable, and not make the only tier 3 healing companion take 360 days of logging in to get. For that amount of time it better be freaken AWESOME to keep me logging in everyday for a year! So far not impressed, GW2 is in the same genre and is done much better. Rethink this and this game might start improving. ME WANT ANGEL!!!!!

unless you have some sort of commitment that precludes logging in. Like a business trip,, roadtrip, family vacation or a hospital stay,.

It's also important to note you can only keep a maximum of seven Celestial Coins.
Does it suck to lose them? Yeah!
But at worst you are only losing 6 days of invoking. 7 if you didn't cash them in immediately after your seventh invocation.

For something that takes a year? No. For something that I need to play every single day for a year? Hell yes.
Even WoW's Violet Proto Drake required all holiday achievements. A whole year's time, but didn't require you to log in, hit a button and log out every day for a year. At least make the goal enjoyable. Not stupid busywork for an excessive period of time.
Most people won't see it in a year, more like two or three, and even more realistically, NEVER. and after two or three years, who is to say how outdated it may be? They created something with stats appropriate to the current game, and yet require a year's time to receive. and that doesn't even take into consideration players who start a year or two from now.

This.
Taking a year to get a cool reward, perfectly cool. designing it in such a way as to make it less a fun, if hard thing to do and more a nearly impossible and pretty much half-assed gesture? Not cool.

The Angel is reasonable for logging in for a year but all the other blue quality items (weapons) for 150 Ardent coins (150 days) is ridiculas. I would of thought that most if not all players would have better quality and better stats weapons way before 150 days played.

Those weapons you get for the special look, which you use to overwrite whatever weapon you're actually using (with the Change Appearance option).
