Mechanic question

I need to kill the PC(s) either for real, or fake it some how, then bring them back to life without any penalties or debuffs.

Context; adventurers finish a job for said boss, who in turn kills them to leave no witnesses, but bosses older sibling arrives and spanks him, and rez's party.

Thoughts?

funny scenario, however it's not possible to kill an entire party, you might be able to simulate death with a FX camera bloom and black/white filter. and have any mobs talking as NPC's however there needs to be triggers to get NPC's to say and do different actions weather that be markers they step on, dialogue prompts reached or objects that the interact with.
It can be very tricky to do but could be done.

This is a really tough one. You cannot actually make a whole party die; but as aprocrs1980 says, you can use some FX.

    So maybe something like this:
Dialog with Boss, he says get your reward from a chest. The chest is actually a transition which takes you to a 'fugue plane' which is using a skyfade like black&white. There is an 'angel' there that explains that the Boss stabbed you in the back and you died, now you are in limbo awaiting your transition to heaven or hell. Then a vision of the resurrecting NPC comes up and tells the PCs to go to the light. They click on a glowing portal which spawns them into a resurrection special effect. Story continues from there. :D

My best suggestion is to play Himmelville... it might help ya with an idea, but im soo not telling ya before ya do it. lol

The effect you want is in there, though.

and i will tell ya how afterward, but its a really great effect, and you just gotta see it.

I'm not sure thunderspanker's effect works with a party so well though. You need a way to ensure all party members are in the same place. His solution is to just flat out tell the player to group up. It is a cool effect tho :D

Its 500x500. You can create copies of it and place it all over the map.

I use it in Silverstars of Selune. It is interactive and dissappears when you click F as "This component complete" hides it.
