Logged in and made my GWF hoping they revered the nerfs (mistake)... So he hits like he's armed with a wet noodle and sips on potions like a an addict. Ok, let see if that changes when I get to lvl 20. Not a chance, he hits even worse and takes a hit like he's wearing cardboard armor.

This softie is going on ice until the dev's fix the class.

Thanks Cryptic!

    Great Weapon Fighter.

And yes, there's been debate about its usefulness recently since BW4, it's possible it's a late bloomer and gets better with levels. I will definitely have a GWF alt but I doubt he'll be my main.

it wouldnt be so bad if he didnt hit less then half as hard as the rogue or had the ability to survive a lot better like the wiz

Depends on "the vision" I guess. Fighters in D&D are supposed to be defenders and the same core class. Last beta i found them to be more then capable in solo especially with a cleric companion and with a CW companion they were not so bad either. Not sure what they want the class to be but some say the Guardian fighter spec for damage outputs the DPS and Tanking ability of the GWF so people really need to put their PvE feedback while grouping. They are supposed to be the same class afterall.

yeah I am hearing the same thing kimonagi, I am playing this class as my main just because I like a challenge. Truth is it is getting harder to solo because the math just isnt adding up to what it should be. The mobs are to powerful for this class as is. They can do a few things to keep true to the 4E one they can either up the damage a little more so that it works out well or they need to make it so they can take hits, maybe some kind of reflective gear dealing damage back or healing off of damage done.

I runed up and made sure my equipment and build was more power / crit. Had no problems mowing things down in BW4 up to level 30. Hopefully they haven't been clipped further... that would be depressing.
    Just sayin...

The GWF is nothing, it cant tank and cant aoe better than a Cleric

Dont know how this class got out of beta the way it is, it isent scoring any points for cryptic with me, it actually makes me fear for what the balance of this game is going to be later on, if you have 2 powerfull classes and then the rest of the classes are underpowered then it kills the replayability of the game

nope not even a little lol, but I am having fun, it just takes some skill and itemizing as far as gear goes while you level.

I almost feel like i am beating a dead horse....but just to give the devs some idea of the way this class is working. My cleric companion pulls agro off of me at times......something tells me this is not working as intended. If so then that is truly sad...

The Cat companion is tanking all my mobs for my GWF. Good thing they heal up to full after they get knocked out of fight and fight ends.

But yeah GWF Needs NEEDS NEEDS a buff. At this point Cryptic has ruined the reputation of this class so much they need to overpower the class so it gets it's reputation back and then nerf it in line with the other classes.

You won't see people crying to much yet, because Hero pack has a blue starter weapon in it, which is roughly lvl 14-15 blue at lvl 5 ;p

I want to play a GWF but with all the Feedback i see here i will go with an other class cause in GW2 i played Engi and hoped since 6 month they will give the last played class in the game a buff and they always nerfed it to the ground again and again. It seems the Cryptic Devs do not know which Role the GWF should play and this was the same in GW2 with the Engineer

yeah dev always nerf weak class and buff up op ,since none plays whit weak and everyone play whit op so they dont wish to make a lot of ppl mad so it is more esay jut nerf some more weak classes so a lot of ppl who play strong are happy and who care about few ppl who play weak classes?that system is common in mmos

I agree. My main is a GWF because it seemed to suit my usual tactic; charging in and dealing loads of damage. Instead I'm getting outfought by rogues and clerics while being hammered and swigging potions every 2 seconds. my TR alt is more powerful at a LOWER LEVEL. It makes no sense.

No idea how you guys are playing your GWF, as soon as I picked up the cleric companion at 15 I never had to use pot and flew through the content to 60 solo in 3 days.

Focus on Crit > Power > Lifeleech > defense stats from items, do not upgrade just cause its higher lvl and is shinier. Equip steel blitz and the crit stacking class feature. WMS atwill, IBS/flourish/come get it as encounters and Slam as daily. Now watch your screen fill with orange numbers and mobs die in 2 hits.

Absolute bull. NEVER had to use a potion? I know thats a blatant lie because even rogues had to use potions quite alot. Also, i had to use a potion virtually every single blooming pack from like level 10 and onwards (not so bad considering how common pots were)

And "come and get it".........id only even CONSIDER that if i was stupid enough to actually USE avalanche of steel..

Yeah Great Weapons Fighters are very very oddly weak. Stuff my rogue goes though, he breezes through with no problem. I've only had to use a potion 3 times in my life so far as a 21 level rogue. Where my level 12 Great Weapon Fighter already had to use the full set of potions you get free.

I have another account where I have a Guardian Fighter thats level 8 doing more damage than my great weapon fighter. Something is not right with this class..

Its survivability and damage is lacking pretty bad already. I dont know if this improves later on, but the math from the damage and thier skills sets in the trees sure isnt looking like it.

And yet everyone that toughs out this class to levle 60 will find that by end game no one will group with you for epic dungeons if you do get a group you are insta Kicked.

The fact the Devs have made no comment on the boards as to when or what needs to be addressed for the GWF and even the GF coiuld mean it may happen a year of more later.

The main problem with GWF, is having to take damage (thus generating Determination) to deal damage. If you level with a cleric pet, you will have more up time of Unstoppable, which is a decent DPS boost. Your other option is to run with a Man-At-Arms pet, and stay in the Combat Advantage radius for increased damage.

I'm still flipping back and forth between the two, but playing with the cleric seems to have the edge. At 60, you generate Determination by dealing damage, so I expect the class to be ok at that point. It's still no rogue though, nor is it a Guardian, but it is a challenge.

Group play in dungeons is not fun, as you will have a tank, and possible several Man-At-Arms pets. Try to soak as much avoidable damage as you can for Determination, and stay behind mobs.
