Im getting 60 most of the time, but the odd occasion it dips it goes straight to 30, indicating the v-sync is not taking advantage of triple buffering. I don't want to use 3rd party apps to manage v-sync, I'd like to do it ingame.
Ideally I'd like to play with v-sync off @ 120hz, unfortunately 120hz isn't working right now (despite being selectable)

I have the same problem I have a 120hz monitor and the refresh rate just won't stick and for fps you can write /showfps 1 and it will show in the up right corner. And yes the game won't go above 60 fps no matter what.
Regardless of what they do else where this still needs sorting. People complain about the FPS etc but its not just about that - there is a distinct difference between playing on 60hz and 120hz in the smoothness over all regardless of your fps being above 60.

Go to X:/Cryptic Studios/Neverwinter/Live/Localdate and open gameprefs.pref with notepad. Change "GfxSettings.MaxFPS" to 120 if that's what you're shooting for. Also, change "GfxSettings.RefreshRate" to 120 or whatever the refresh rate of your monitor is.
When you click the option to have a preset graphics settings, I think it resets the MaxFPS setting. So make sure and do custom graphics settings and make sure max fps towards the bottom under troubleshooting is set either to off or 120 fps.

I as well thought this should work and did this even before finding this thread.
It did work, HOWEVER if you change your resolution or fullscreen/windowed fullscreen settings it changes your GfxSettings.MaxFPS back to 60 in gameprefs.pref.
So change your settings manually in the file as described above, and then do not change any other graphical settings and you will get 120hz/fps, or the max settings that your video card can achieve

For those of you who can't get more than 60 FPS: There is an option in the troubleshooting section of the advanced video settings where you can set the max fps the game runs on, by default the game is limited to 60 fps, but you can turn the fps limit off or raise it, w/o editing config files.
run the game windowed fullscreen? geez man, use your head.

A lot of ppls are running the game in windowed fullscreen, the only diff is that most ppl don't know about it. The moment you Alt+Tab out of the game, it sets itself to windowed fullscreen, if you were in fullscreen previously. For a time i kept setting it back to fullscreen, but then i just got bored of it and didn't care. So basically almost everyone who uses gateway while playing or uses voicecom, is playing the game in windowed fullscreen, only exception are ppl who play it in windowed mode from the start.

Mine still says "60hz", but I get anywhere from 50fps - 200fps depending on where I am and whats going on. Used /showfps 1 to verify.
120 reset to 60 after closing options menu
It jumps back to 60hz at once after you pick 120hz and press apply.
Annoying as hell.
extra words because bump
But guys, they will never fix this issue. This issue exists also in their other game, Star Trek: Online.
And they still haven't fixed it there...
Fact of the matter is, Cryptic ain't too good patching at all;[
Please fix this! :<
