Yup... Try it against the Blob cube in Clockwork Tower... same result: Resist poison.
That is a gelatinous cube. The most dangerous foe you'll ever face in D&D. Seriously, when my friends and I ran into it (literally) in BW4 we all turned and fled for two rooms screaming like children. I think I've only ever killed one once in my years playing tabletop, though they have always been placed in rather advantageous (for them) locations.

Ooze type monsters do tend to be some of the most annoying/dangerous creatures due to their immunities and special abilities.
Slightly more on topic, blocking poison with a shield is problably a quirk of the game mechanics, it is about as logical as a GWF being able to use Avalance of Steel indoors/underground.
It could be worse, we could could end up having to carry a club that doesn't get destroyed by rustmonsters and oozes so we can bash them as they appear in packs and droves every 3 feet like in DDO... =P

"I'm poisoned! Guess I will just block out the venom with my Shield that apparently can block anything!"
Now I'm wondering if you can also 'deflect' poison damage:rolleyes:
Its not the shield but their stance which blocks the poison.
