So I didn't really follow this game much while it was being developed and I only participated in the very last beta event but I have invested with the HotN pack so I obviously plan on playing the game for a little while. Now b/c I work weekends I didn't get to spend very much time in the game during beta weekend 4 but I did get a couple characters to the mid and low teens. Even at these very early levels I ran into the annoyance of having to take a power I didn't really want or spend points in powers I never planned to use just so I could advance in the tree and get powers I wanted. Now I suppose a little bit of that is to be expected but in this current iteration there seems likely to be a good deal of that at later levels. I was just curious if there has been any discussion on them altering the current system? I was reading some things and I saw where this point system is a fairly new change they made so hoping they will revamp it a little. I really don't like being forced to waste points on stuff I have no use for and will never use. I mean not only do you have to take a power you will never use but you have to spend more points making that power stronger just to advance in the tree, which is just silly to me.

What I want to know is if you can still max out everything that you actually want/need. If that's the case then spending extra points in other stuff doesn't really matter, it just takes longer to get what you want before hitting 60.

It actually got much better after 20 points when you can put a third point into everything. And while I agree that buying skills you don't plan on using is a bit of a nuisance, you could always try to make the most out of it and try to find a use for the skills you wouldn't necessarily want otherwise. I actually discovered a fairly interesting combo with my CW because of having to put points in a skill I didn't think I would use.
However, I'm sure there will be some changes. Even if it's just something as simple as re-arranging the positions of a couple of skills on the list, that could make a world of difference.

For me personally, I have enough points to max everything I want, and get nearly every other skill to level 1 just to mess around with.

^ I been playing around with the Power builder someone put up you can max everything but 3 powers the only problem is your forced to put 2 points in some of the starter skills, you can max everything in the last half of the tree if you wish.

I'm hoping they just move back all the incredibly high level non paragon path skills to being able to be chosen before level 30.
It's a simple change that will give us a world of choices on what skills we want pre paragon paths and then the ability to max out those skills after lv 30 while we also pick up the new paragon path powers.
But the better change would just be adding alot more powers to the trees and many more paragon paths.
I'm not a fan of "wasting" points in powers I don't plan to use. In BW4, there were a few times when I didn't even bother spending points when I gained a level because I needed 2-3 more points to reach a tier where I could invest in something I wanted. There's something wrong when my response to seeing I gained a level is "meh".
My primary concern with the new system, however, is the respec cost. I enjoy experimenting with builds, but I'm not interested in paying Cryptic $5 every time I want to try something different.

Yeah I don't mind the cash shop but respec is one of those things I wish they wouldn't charge zen for. I wouldn't say I respec a lot but when you're learning a new game and testing things out the ability to respec is pretty important. I personally tend to play a lot of alt characters as well so 5 dollars to respec across 5 characters would add up pretty quickly into costs I'm not willing to pay. Not even that I can't afford it, simply becomes the principle at that point.

At this time this is one of my greatest worries. If I really get into the game I will invest in Zen but I will not be using it to respec. Granted you can turn Astral Diamonds into Zen but you would need a pretty good chunk.
