While I love the idea behind the class as a warrior with a massive weapon playing it does not give you the same feeling, really considering going TR.
A class should be like food while its play style the flavor. As is was in BW4 GWF lacks a stong flavor,a class should catch you from beginning to end not having to put up with half arsed lvling in the hopes that it will get better at the end...just like food.
Yup. I know that there will be some pain in leveling up, gonna hate being stuck with Reaping Strike for any length of time at all, but I know how to get good results out of the class.
I still would, although they better get around to fixing the threat generation issues. I'm doubtful that absolutely nothing would be changed between the BW4 build and Open Beta.

I hated Reaping Strike in CB3, now I LOVE it. It will be on any build I take, any Paragon Path.

There is a ton of threat in the Sentinel Paragon path. I know because I overlooked this too.

Some one are complaining about the low dmg, compared to TR, but I dont care about how much dmg I do, I just love the playing stile of GWF, the big weapon, the sprint:D, the stun and knockdown:X, and with the time and the right gear we will have also the dmg we need:)

I played several Sentinel builds during BW4 - threat generation is just not working properly or it is too low. I did not overlook it at all, rather tested it as much as I possibly could. We have no reliable means of peeling a target off of another player as of the BW4 build.
The threat mechanics of the GWF need to be looked at. It seems most people that approach the GWF want to focus on DPS, but this is still a serious issue for the rest of us. I do hope that the developers are looking at the viability of the Sentinel path in a serious manner. I have a feeling that it was never a serious topic of discussion among the "alpha" testers...
I'm not asking for a taunt. I just expect that when I use my primary threat generator on an elite add during a dungeon boss encounter, to peel it off our Cleric or CW while the GF is occupied, that I'll be able to grab it's attention eventually. Sadly, this is rarely the case and sometimes results in 20+ seconds of wasted effort. If you ask me, that just isn't right and does not reward looking out for your party members in a positive way.

Can you please explain why? I found reaping strike to be pretty useless. It takes too long to charge up while enemies are banging away on you. You can only move at a snail's pace while charging or holding a full charge. The damage is less than you would do if you just used sure strike the entire time.
Reaping Strike is Balrog's (street fighter) "Turn Punch"...it sounds like it would be awesome...but trying to use it is more trouble than its worth.
Of course, this is just my opinion of the skill and I would love to hear how you've been using it in a way to make it worthwhile.
EDIT: I just saw your other post. I see how you were using Reaping Strike in solo combat. I do not plan on playing solo (I have several RL friends playing with me at launch) so that is pretty much why I viewed Reaping Strike as a throwaway skill. It can be very nice while playing alone aka all the mobs are always crowding around you...but in a group it is useless.
I always end up creating one of each class when I play an MMO but I will reserve the GWF as my last class to level up.
Hopefully they will release a new class before I even get to that and I can push it off until something more poorly designed pops up.

I was planning on playing GWF as my main, but after the BW4 nerfs, I'm not nearly as interested. It's obvious many of us are upset with the changes they made, but only time will tell if decide to restore GWF to its former glory...
Even as much as I enjoy the GWF, I can't bring myself to play this class in its current state. I'll likely roll TR or DC as my main now.
I'm sure a few weeks after the game goes into official launch and they look at the numbers we will see some drastic improvements to GWF.
Say, hypothetically, NWO gets 150,000 players at launch...when PW and Cryptic see that only 2,000 of them are playing GWF and 75,000 are playing Trickster Rogue they will have to agree that something is wrong with this class instead of ignoring us.

I very much approve of this post.

This 1000 times this! i'm willing to gamble $20 worth of zen that AT LEAST 50% of characters will be trickster rogues... anyone care to take my wager ?
For me it depends on whether the GWF is going to be viable at PvP while levelling. While the TR was exceptionally good at PvP, I actually had less fun with it in PvE.
In PvP the GWF just felt lacking - yes I only played it at lower levels, which is why I said I would roll one, just maybe not as my main.
The best PvE/PvP balance for fun and viability between the classes for me was the CW. But they dont get a GreatWeapon to smack stuff with xD
Argantis, I've read most of your other posts. It seems that you've continually tested and retested various builds for PvE and, while lacking, the GWF still seems viable and fun. However, would you see the GWF as viable in higher level PvP?
I will create both GWF and TR at launch. If we had more control over characters, I'd have a rogue with hand&half sword as my primary, but remains to be seen if it is GWF or TR in this game.

And since it's like that, i will probably never play Neverwinter.
