Idea for the great weapon fighter

I play a great weapon fighter in Neverwinter and I noticed that there is no way to block or doge enemy attacks. That gave me the idea that like the guardian fighter has a shield for blocking and the rogue the ability to dodge, why not give the GWF a lesser dodge or parry ability so it can easily defend himself better. Please if anyone knows a person on cryptic please show them this post, or let me know if there is a defensive ability for the GWF that I am just to thick to notice.

P.S based off some of the replies this thread got I came up with another idea for a defensive ability. To give the GWF a good defensive ability and allowing the GWF to be further developed. In the feats there could be feats that allow players to specialize there unstoppable ability such as regenerating health more defense, more damage, and etc. On post 7 by argantis he says the unstoppable ability has more purpose then just DPS, so then let us specialize that ability further.

I think that a parry mechanic would be a fantastic mechanic. You could make it a Block skill that bleeds some damage through but returns 20% of the damage back at the enemy. That way we could actively parry and use it like a skill. Currently our Run ability is only really usable as a "Hahah Trickster rogue, I am faster then you" kind of thing and nothing else. I havent found it to be useful in pve in the slightest. Replace that with a Parry would be fantastic.

Have seen alot of ppl ask to see Reaping strike buffed to have a damage reduction while you charge. This would make Reaping strike a GWF tanky move.

It makes sense too on how you pose with your weapon when you charge this ability. And considering the GWF absolutely nerfed movement they need more damage resistance as they take way to many hits comapred to all other classes.

Now that I think about it some, this isn't a terrible idea. A passive mechanic could be introduced that would be tied to deflect chance and would return a portion of the damage negated by a successful deflect back at an attacker. It could end up being an OP passive as well, if not properly balanced. However, this could also be beneficial to both GF and GWF.

As far as parry being it's own ability that can be triggered on demand like a shield block, I'm against that idea. I think determination builds very quickly in a defensive role, which makes Unstoppable very useful in PvE. As for PvP, maybe what I mentioned above would be a good way of making a tankier target less desirable. This could just introduce more balancing issues though.

There is a block mechanic, your determination bar, when you use it will reduce damage by 20% at half full or 40% at completely full. Unstoppable is not just a burst DPS move, it very well can be used to mitigate damage much like the guardian's guard meter.

There are also plenty of passive feats and powers to add to your defense or deflect.

I had 30.7 damage resistance passively, and 19.9% deflection to avoid 50% damage. Add Unstoppable to that and you are pretty dang resilient and dish out a lot of damage at the same time. IMO GWF is fine how it is.

On top of that if you want more damage mitigation use the Daring Shout encounter power.
