Clock Tower last chest

I did few times the clock tower dungeon, and I saw at the end there's a big chest, unable to open.

    I am guessing that chest is reserved for when there are dungeon events going on that have the "special rewards".

    I was able to look the big chest on my first playthrough but not the second.

    Note that the first time I had the actual quest to complete the dungeon, and I think the big chest is literally the quest reward and not the dungeon's reward. Note that multiple playthroughs will still net you decent random loot drops as well as SEALS from each boss which you can spend on gear.
