I've seen a few demonstrations of the Foundry, and how to make maps, encounters and mission structures. But I was wondering what is possible in terms of friendly NPCs. Can you give them waypoints to follow, stuff to do (like chopping wood), place them in specific stances (like dancing or sleeping), and can you have them talk with each other? For quest NPCs, can you place them in specific situations while they talk to you (like sitting on a chair, riding a horse etc.)?
Hope anyone can answer my questions.
People have been swinging at me for years, they always seem to miss
Well I saw one Foundry mission had a NPC doing push ups, another one was juggling, another was playing a lute and another (a massive Ogre I think) was dancing to the music, so I can confirm you can make NPCs do certain things and put them in certain stances.
As for "when they talk to you", I only saw them standing in the standard stance, so I can't confirm anything there.
I know that only barely answers your questions, but hopefully it's a start.

I haven't gotten into Neverwinter's Foundry but I do have a good deal of experience with STO's Foundry which is an earlier, less polished version of the Foundry. I've also kept up on the Foundry videos the team has released so I have a loose understanding of the differences between the two.
There are basically two types of NPCs, NPC Groups and NPC Contacts.
NPC groups can friendly or hostile depending on their factional alignment. They usually have several NPCs in a group and are capable of fighting. They can be assigned animations for when they're not fighting but these animations usually apply to all NPCs in the group. One of the behaviors you can set for the group is a patrol with different waypoints. The group will walk between them and then in a loop.
NPC Contacts are special NPCs you can talk to. They too can have animations, but they can't move and they can't fight.

Nah, I never got into the beta. So you have played with the Foundry? Can you elaborate a bit on what you can have NPCs do?
Sorry I can't. Except from what people have already seen the NPCs do in my own quest.
*points to NDA*
All right, I understand.
Thanks for your response anyway!
