Has there been any word or mention of when there will be invites going out for the separate Foundry test, or are these invites going to be secret.
Playing the game in beta is not the same without the Foundry, and I would really like to get in there and help iron out the issues that are causing it to be delayed from the beta weekends.

It would be held under NDA, so yes it will be secret. You will probably get an email or PM. But it has not been done yet - to put your mind to ease.

That is what I was wondering. It was all secretive. They have pretty much told us to do or tell whoever we wanted about the beta weekends, but the Foundry test was ultra-secretive. They put up a survey that lasted a few days and took it down, with no official responses or anything indicating when they would select testers, how the test was to proceed, or anything.
Just because it is under an NDA, does not mean they can be like "watch your emails, invites coming out."
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.

I'm not sure if The Foundry is available this weekend personally but that isn't what the OP was refering to.
The OP is refering to the Foundry Beta which was able to be signed up for last week. It's a completely separate Beta Test than the Beta Weekends and is going to be limited to those who have past experience or a true, sincere desire to make content for the game.

ah, looks like I missed sign ups then .
I was an avid DM for my gaming groups in my university years, the Foundry was a primary interest in seeing if I can re create some of the ideas I put forth back then. Do you know if the Foundry allows for NPC dialogue scripting and cut scenes?
Do not despair. It's less than two months till the launch date. (I mean, end of April is the end of the first quarter 2013. It'll be done by then, right?)

I figured it would take place after this beta weekend has concluded for multiple reasons:
- most creators would not be able to create high-quality polished content within a week, cluttering up the Foundry with half-completed stuff for the beta weekend
- the beta weekend (both preparation and execution) takes up significant developer and CM resources, so spending even more on the Foundry test is foolhardy. Basic project management stuff.
- (possibly) depending on the purpose of the test, it may be necessary to do follow-ups and further inquiries. For example, if I claimed in my app that I have 3+ years of City of Heroes Mission Architect experience, a Dev's Choice, and multiple award-winning story arcs, these claims would need to be validated too. There were over 100 people who replied to the application thread, and I think it's a safe bet to say there were quite a few people who applied and didn't post on the thread... so something like this could take a (long) while.
So yeah, next week at the earliest. I'm figuring Tues/Wed.
I log in nearly everyday.... How the heck did I miss that? lol
Yeah, and it was not really publicized. I only knew about it because I check the forums everyday and saw a sticky on it... that was all there was at first, a random sticky that popped up for less then a week then disappeared. I tried to let people know about it in my posts, but I think a of people missed out on sign ups.
As for release being slated in 2 months, I am less worried about getting to play, then I am about the Foundry not being up to par when it does release. Yeah, so I can't wait to get my hands on it for sure, but I also wan't to test it and break it and hope that there are enough testers doing the same that Cryptic can iron out any issues they are having with the Foundry.
