Fatal Error: Error decompressing data

When trying to start the game, I get as far as the Cryptic loading screen then it crashes with the following message:

Fatal Error: Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.:

Verifying the files did not help and neither did a fresh install.

    my g/f is having the same exact problem atm cant find a fix for it anywhere >.<

    I am getting this message as well,, and so are two of my friends with accounts..

    Exact same issue here. I've uninstalled/reinstalled 3 times with the exact same result. Even tried installing to a totally different path.

    I was able to fix it by redownloading the game from the site and reinstalling.

    I used direct download.

    hi all... im getting a decompression msg too..

    what does this pertain to..?? i've already reinstalled many times and to different paths...have force-verified... done a clean sweep uninstall and reinstall and i keep getting the same msg... im using win7 x64---- i so want to play this game but i feel like i paid 60 bucks for a character screen crash-- hope this gets resolved soon :-( if anybody has or had this issue please post if you got it working and how you did it. at this point, the forums are the only help in sight. thankx all..!!:D

    Iam having the same problems and have done a fresh reinstall twice! It hasn't fixed the problem. I did however install game on my laptop which has windows 7 on it and it works fine. I just cant get it to work on my new desktop with windows 8

    UPDATE-- ok , so i finally got it to work.. first i uninstalled everything-- i downloaded everything again BUT i disabled my AVG anti-virus and my Malwarebyte's Anti-malware programs before anything. everything downloaded and got patched correctly and this time it worked..!! I'm guessing maybe these programs i have might not have let the full game files download completely and thus, getting the Decompressing Errors..!! try disabling any anti-virus programs and spyware programs, even the firewall, and download everything again.. hopefully this will download the game in its entirety.. good luck and hope to see you online soon..!! :-)

    the same prob here guys pls help.. i want to play NW... any other solution?

    Exact same problem here. I had to change my HDD so I re-installed the client. I updated, I patched but nothing worked. I uninstalled and did the same procedure again. Download->install-> patch -> play -> crash .

    Now I am patching again after manually deleting the contents of "C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Neverwinter\Live\piggs".

    With my slow old HDD drive I played fine. Today I installed a SSD and neverwinter was installed on a clean win8 installation.
    Any ideas?

    Be sure to clean up your registry of errors with a program like cccleaner. If that doesn't solve the problem then attempt to uninstall the arc launcher but keep the neverwinter game file. You can choose to keep it by choosing not to uninstall games (you'll see the option when uninstalling arc launcher). Let me know if this helps because one or both of these helped me. Never winter will disappear from startmenu and desktop (it did for me), but you can find it again by going into program files.
