Neverwinter Starter Pack?

So yea, I'm curious how valuable the Starter Pack will prove to be? I can definitely see the convenience of extra inventory slots for all of your characters, but what about the Adventurer Helper Pack and the Amulet of Protection?

Without having played the game yet, it's hard to judge whether or not these items could justify dropping another $20 for a bundle valued at $49. Aside from the EXP boost in the Helper Pack, I would assume the majority of the items it contains could just as well be bought from a vendor on an as need basis.

Any thoughts? Will you buy it? How many will you buy?

The Starter Kit is for one character only. 3 items for $20. For one character. Say whatever you want about the Hero's pack price but the Starter does seem quite expensive for something that is only for one character.

The Small Bag of Holding is primarily what you would be paying for, as the 12 extra inventory slots are very nice to have early on. Loot drops like crazy and you will run out of space without an extra bag.

The consumables in the Adventurer's Helper Pack are largely irrelevant; they save you a bit of time and gold in-game, but not much. The 10,000 experience booster, for example, is only the equivalent of a few quests worth of experience as you reach your twenties, if memory serves. Also, at least in beta, Portable Altars drop quite readily. Keep in mind that Cryptic could at any time change how the game awards the items in this pack, so it may become more valuable if the rarity or cost of the items it contains increases.

The Amulet of Protection is pretty nice. To be perfectly honest, I do not recall whether I found anything better than that for that slot during beta. However, I suspect it will be replaced before too long, and +1 AC is not overwhelming. I went without it and did just fine.

Yea, I'm aware the Bag of Holding applies to all characters. That's the real value in the kit I believe, especially if you plan on playing multiple characters and the cash shop regularly sells extra inventory slots on a per character basis as opposed to per account. But we don't have those details, so it's hard to say.

Just to clarify, the amulet and box of goodies are one per account but the 12 slot bag is one per character created so it will probably be a good use of $20 if you buy the guardian pack but not worth it if you buy the hero pack (imo)

The bag is the best part of the Starter Kit IMO. The Amulet is questionable since we don't know how important +1 AC is throughtout the game. The 10,000XP boost is the only thing I see in the Helper Pack with any real value. The identify scrolls, skill consumables and portable altars were pretty cheap in beta. The health stone and raise dead scrolls are an unknown quantity as well.

And as hosilocks says, the bag is per character.

The bag is the only thing of worth in there, based on my experience in the beta weekend. And I really HOPE it's not worth $20.

Actually, the fact that they're calling that pack a $50 value concerns me. If going into the cash shop after launch and buying just those items will cost $50, that's a damn expensive cash shop.

Edit: Actually, since every character you ever make gets the bag, $20 is not an entirely terrible price. It could be worth it.
