Suggestions for ways to add more character customization/build options.

Hi everyone. I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread where we discuss ways to add more customization options while building and leveling up our characters. This is not for cosmetic customization but instead for the actual way we play our characters. The characters strengths and weaknesses and abilities.

First, I think we really need a way to control each characters starting stats a bit more. If nothing else, more preset options for each class would be nice (two is just not enough). Personally I'd like to have free range on how we spend our stats within a fixed range for each stat (base amount of points to spend with primary and secondary having a range between 12-18 base (before class bonuses) and all other stats having a range between 8-14. This would let you have a high strength trickster rogue if you want for instance, or a cleric with a ton of con etc.

Second, stats do not seem to make a HUGE deal in character power from what we have seen in the beta so far. Con for instance seems to give (con-10)x2 percent increase in health (so a 24 con gives 28% increase to health). Str gives str-10 % increase to damage etc.

A few more stat points won't unbalance the game, but might give players the feel they have more control over their characters. Therefore, I suggest instead of giving stat boosts every 10 levels, we change it to every 5 levels. It might even be worth it to make it every level but take away the levels that add a stat point to all stats...and restrict how many points you can add to any 1 stat (making it so you can't increase the same stat twice in a row. You could start the stat increases at level 20 (instead of 10) so that would be a max of 20 points to any 1 stat (40 levels/2).

Both more weapon (and armor) options for each class would also be nice, but in addition, weapon specialization would then be something melee classes could have as well. That adds alot more versatility in equipment you can hunt for in addition to giving more character customization options.

Thats a few ideas to start off with. Please feel free to add any ideas you have for additional customization options for our characters and what you would like to see in NWO:)

I think the Beta testers mentioned the Skill system wasn't up and running during last Beta weekend. I'm sure the skill tree will allow for character customization.

    Ah, that would be nice:)

I do wish we could hear some info about character generation (allocation of stat initially etc). I'm hoping that is going to change before the game goes live.
