I'm kinda disheartened to learn that the Founder's Packs will be available for purchase after launch... it removes any feeling of exclusiveness, and makes it feel much less valuable... I do appreciate the beta access, and I hope our feedback is being monitored and taken into consideration while the game is still being developed. I do however think the Founder's Packs should be labeled differently or they should not be available for purchase after the game has launched. I'm sure most people that will even consider buying one, have already done so, and it's not like this post will have any influence, since you obviously want to make money for your hard work.

While it will go through launch they did not specify for how long.
Obviously at some point the "Founding" promotion has to end but to me the term Founder is very subjective. The rewards, near as we have been told, will be exclusive. The packs on the other hands will go through launch for a period of time and if you think about it MMO terms I wouldn't see much difference between a Day One Founder and a First Month Founder.

A very vast majority of Cryptic's "exclusive" rewards end up on the C-store very quickly. I fully expect every Founder's Reward save the forum title to be available individually on the C-store within a couple of weeks of the Founder's Packs no longer available for purchase, if they even wait that long - Lifetime Subscriber bonuses that were initially advertised as "exclusive" were and are available in the C-store for a nominal fee.
Coming from being a Founder from the start of Star Trek Online. I can say I really love the perks that they will give the founders.
It makes sense for them to leave founders open for a little while after launch.
However, I am concerned to a point, that as the game goes on, they will re-open the founders reward to generate more revenue for the game, just like they did in STO.
Now, I'm not bashing. The money they made from re-opening it naturally goes to paying for more content and such. But what bothers me, is the fact when they did that, They gave people the rewards that we earned from the 300, 1200, etc day rewards right off the bat. I just hope IF they choose to do that in this game, the same thing doesn't happen.
Sure, give them a nice carrot to get them to bite so they want to pay the money for it. But say if the game is on year 2, don't give them all the rewards up to that point, maybe give them like 1 year credit. Let those of us who are putting money into the game by buying Founder's NOW, a level of reward for our trust and commitment to the game from the beginning. Not let folks join 2 years later and give them everything we played for months/years for.

Honestly, with the number of people who want to play Drizzt, if you think they aren't going to package up the key points of that package and call it the "Drow Renegade Pack" and charge $20-50 a pop for it, there are some very sadly mistaken people.
Granted, I think the skins and names will be unique. you'll get a dark blue panther instead of a black one, you'll get a black widow spider instead of an armored spider, and it might be "Redeemed Dark Elf" background with a re-colored faerie fire. But the essence will be the same.
I just don't see them skipping on that possible revenue stream; not for $20 a pop for people who didn't want to go all in with a $200 founder's pack.
Let's just say that there are 30,000 people who play this game. Of those, let's say 1% have purchased founder's packs (300 @ $200). However, 15% of the players will want to play drizzt if they can get it at $20 (a rather conservative figure, honestly). 3,300 @ $20.
Yeah. Plenty of cash to be made, especially since I'm probably very low on the counts above.

Since they've never done anything anywhere NEAR that quickly before in any other game, why do you suddenly think Neverwinter will be different?
I'd expect "exclusive" items will take months to come to the store, if not more than a year, based on the past. You say the "very vast majority" of things have been different; name three.

Not sure about other lifetime subscriptions, but the only perk of the lifetime subscription for Star Trek Online made available to others was the Captain's Table (Moonstone Regular perk for STO) and that was part of their veteran reward system that was listed at the start of the game. Had to subscribe for 400 days to get it. So it was not available to others by going through the C-Store. The liberated borg species and costume piece have remained exclusive to the game.
I imagine that a few items will be made available for purchase later like the Moonstone Regular and some of the other items, but the main rewards like the Renegade Background, Companions, and Mounts will not be available. They might introduce something similar, but they won't be the same.
To be honest, even if it was removed, some of the items would eventually appear on the cash shop or via some other means. It can be annoying but im sure in time it won't even affect you
They better not put "exclusive" items in the cash shop... that's pathetic false advertising. I guess I should've done more research on this company though. They are people, and people are evil, so I'm at fault for not researching their past.
Does it matter so long as you got to enjoy the items you bought yourself?
How does other people buying stuff affect you, unless you only gain enjoyment from having things other people cannot get (not a very attractive trait).
Wow, calling them evil for possibly not keeping something exclusive seems a bit much don't you think. Especially since they have yet to carry out this dastardly deed.
All die, so die well.

But... but... he called himself and all his bloodline evil too!!
I'm ok with them keeping the packs for a while after launch (while it makes sense as already mentioned). A good finacial status shortly after release is never a bad thing to relax some spheres. And I don't mind if eventually the "exclusive" stuff isn't. I get fancy stuff to enjoy before other people but I'm fine with them getting to play with the same toys later if they want to. Share the joy and stuff.

Where in the advertising did they say "exclusive forever; there will never be any other way to obtain these items!"?

Vet Rewards were NOT in at launch - they were only added due to player demand. As such, claiming LTSers never had a claim to it is patently false - it wasn't a Vet Reward until well after launch, which was well after a lot of people (myself included) bought an LTS.
Either way, it's no longer 'exclusive,' would you not agree?

Two months after launch is still the start of the game for a game that has been out for 3 years. Also, I never said LTSers never had a claim to it. It is still exclusive to a certain degree since you have to either get a lifetime subscription or subscribe for over a year. The point is that the items of STO's lifetime subscription wasn't put into a Cash Shop.

They're currently exclusive.
