Crash at Cryptic screen

i can press Play then the black screen comes up with white letters saying Cryptic.. it loads about 1/4 the way.. then i get this crash error

Fatal error: "PhysXcore.dll" was loaded from
"C:/Program Files (x86)/NVIDIA Corporation/PhysX/Engine/v2.8.1"
but should be from
"C:/Users/Public/Games/Cryptic Studios/Neverwinter/Live".

[SOLVED] I just did Direct Download again and everything worked

    I get the same fatal error, is there a fix sure would like to play game I just spent to $199.00 to play

    I am having the same error. Uninstall/reinstall has not resolved it. I notice from reading the forums, that this issue cropped up in STO and Champions also, probably not a coincidence.

    This still happens after the latest patch, submitted the error log again.

    This crash persists in the latest patch, uploaded crash log again.

    I let the leads know about this. I don't know if it's already been fixed though (since there are no recent posts).

    It hasn't been fixed, but I've opened a bug on it. Thanks for letting us know about it.

    I have an another problem when i am playing the game freeze and says me sth about cryptic error or sth like that do u know how can i fiz this?

    This has happened to me, too. When I logged in, and the game started to Launch, the loading bar got to about 20-25% full, and then the Game Crashed. An error message appeared, saying (exactly) this:

    Fatal Error: Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.:

    Now, I am unaware how to even Verify my Files, anyway. In the options, there is a Check-Box for 'Verify Files', but I don't know how to do a 'Manual Verification". Also, once this happened, I tried to relaunch the game. After logging in, the Launcher came to the screen where patches usually happen, but this time the 'patching completion bar' just said "patching" and pretty much froze. The advertisements continued to cycle, though.

    This happened even after I reinstalled the game. I am currently redownloading the 'Neverwinter Downloader' itself, as I make this post.

    I played in the Closed Beta, too, and this didn't happen. Seriously, it seems like everything Cryptic touches turns to HAMSTER these days. Like the opposite of the Midas touch. I mean, they almost completely abandon/ignore Champions Online to spend time getting NWO to work, but they STILL can't seem to get their **** together. I can tell this from the enormous amounts of Bug/Issue reports posted Today alone, and also how few of them have gotten a Dev's response.

    C'mon guys, pull yourself out of this. I believe in you. I just don't want to spend more money on something that might flop anyway.

    Is that enough of a motivator for you, Perfect World Entertainment?
    It makes sense, if you don't think about it.

    Happening for me as well. Tried these:
    - copying from nvidiato NVW and vice versa
    - reinstalling the nvidia .dll (the error says v2.8.1 is causeing the problem, but I'm up to v2.8.3... which makes me think I should downgrade and see what happens)
    - deleting the folder in question in the nvidia folder (doesn't even have the error this time, just crashes)
    - pouring thru the forums for answers and finding only 2 things: "help I have this problem too!" and "we know its a bug, a report has been filed"

    so uh... did anyone ever actually have a fix? I sure would like to log and get my blessing tokens...

    I updated my nVidia drivers to 1.8.1. Got the nasty crash (all games: STO and CO as well as Neverwinter).

    Reverted back to nVidia 1.6.1 drivers.
    Fixed.

    Try downloading the previous driver set (previous to the current one) - which I think is version 1.61. I suspect THAT will fix the problem if you are on nVidia.

    i paid double ;) same crash here mate, Tis' a shame i cant play anymore :\ i had so much invested into it... I'd like some help if you can but it seeems that right when the Cryptic load screen starts i get a crash, everytime. GG :[

    Hello there. Im a new player here so howdy. I installed the game yesterday and played like 10 minutes or so. I wanted to play now and the patch note comes up id does something and the Play button lights up hurray. I click on play the black cryptic logo comes and bamm. back to desktop with an uknow crash. It dosnt write me anything... any toughts?
