So... is there anything somewhere that outlines what is meant by 'build' exactly?
To me a build is all about the race and class options, but I thought that the class progressions were all on rails for neverwinter, so how can there be a build as such?
I find this very confusing. Presumably all will become clear in 4hrs or so when the beta opens?
In that case I have the following questions just to further my understanding a bit more:
Base stats
Any write up anywhere which puts those stat levels into context? Is it "classic DnD" where 18 is a really high end number until well into mid-levels, or is it "MMO DnD" where 18 is huge at chargen but then goes up to stats in the hundreds by mid game?
Feats
So these are more like WoW talents than DnD feats (I never played more than one game of the alleged DnD game by the name of 4th Ed but I'm pretty sure feats were still more or less the same as the feat mechanic introduced in 3rd Ed), and you can invest (or not) points into them?
Paragon Skills
These seem more or less exactly the same as the "feats" above, in that you spend points into an ability from a limited list of abilities, but only available at certain levels?
NB - don't take my use of quotation marks as (e.g. "feats") as a negative by the way. I'm just making sure I am understanding the distinction between those terms as I understand them, and how they are used in Neverwinter. I don't much care either way. I loathed (and I mean loathed) 4th ed on the basis that it was an encounter card game not a roleplaying game - but I always said it would make a great foundation for an action MMO. The key is going to be gameplay and how much genuine flexibility there is in builds. I don't care what the underlying system is, provided I understand it and can, if I want, roll two rogues (or two wizards, or whatever) and make them feel unique from each other.

So essentially a "build" is:
Base stats
Feats
Paragon Skills
Is that right?

Feats can be placed into any of the tiers. Every 5 'advances' the tier. 20 opens Paragon from what I understand.
Same thing for Paragon feats. Regardless for the path you choose at 30, you can cherry pick from all three
They are a separate line of feats. (to the right basically of 'Heroic Feats')
I think the encounter/daily and T5 abilities reflect your path choice.
Not 100% of the builds are in CB
