War Wizard in the Great Weapon Fighter Video?

deathssickledeathssickle Member Posts: 0 Arc User
edited January 2013 in General Discussion (PC)
Hey guy so some of you may have read about the Ranger in the Great Weapon Fighter video, but there wasnt much talk about the Wizard in it(I know the Ranger is a "big thing"). I think it is the War Wizard. Anyone else think this? Any other Ideas? Could a Dev confirm this or not?

I have outlined the wizard in green in the old photo with Dusty outlined in Red

Neverwinter+Ranger+Dusty+and+War+Wizard.jpg

So lets get some info about this.

I may be wrong but wasn't it said those were companions or henchmen in that shot?

they said that the Ranger, "Dusty, is a NPC, but they did not mention the others. So it is quite possible it is a PC. Even if it is a NPC it has to be a War Wizard NPC since From what I understand of the Control Wizard he doesnt use that spell, and if they have a NPC they may be working on a PC version.

Those are non-player characters. Not sure if they are henchmen or simply standing there...

But goodness knows if they are "Rangers" or "War Wizards." From one rumor I saw, and I will stress rumor, Dusty is a ranger but that isn't the same as the class ranger. If we look at NPC's even in NWN they don't necessarily have the same class settings as a standard class so it's entirely possible that Dusty and the "War Wizard" have their own NPC settings rather than actual Player Class abilities.

Just pointing out that NPC abilities don't directly mean Player Classes will be have the same options.
Though I certainly would love to start out as a Dual Weapon Ranger or War Wizard.

Most people on forums think it is not a control wizard.

Most people on forums think it to be sorcerer or some kind of wizard.

I think it is warlock (as in the poll I created a while back. Truth seems to share my opinion)

That would make sense. Id understand it being a Warlock using fiery bolt

War wizards suggested at wills via the PHB are scorching burst, encounter burning hands, so guess when some see fire, easy to think that it could be, even though devs had said everything aint to the letter 4th ed wise.
When i think of warlock i think of dark energy and shadowy type of spell/powers. Warlock fiery bolt quite possibly (you call up a bolt of golden flame and hurl it at your foe. anyone standing close to him is burned as well).blackdaggerkeepvid_zps0c803af4.jpg
    blackdagger video
    weseethisblokeabitbutwhataboutthisone_zpsc566b9cb.jpgwe see this bloke abit
butwhosthisbloke_zps4a969d09.jpgbut who's this old mate with the staff, I LIKE STAFF'S/STAVES

yah fiery bolt is one of the Warlocks only spells a that has a Fire similar to the one in the video.

The War Wizard has scorching burst and burning hand, like you said, but also can get Flaming Sphere, Fireshroud, Fireball, Fireburst, Wall of Fire, Combust, and Black Fire, all before hitting Paragon Paths.

Also(for comparison, if they are sticking to 4.0 PH) in the PH it says about the Control Wizard
    Control Wizard
Your favorite powers restrict your enemies in various
ways—crushing them in the coils of a lightning
serpent, trapping them in a cloud of noxious vapor, or
encasing them in ice. Intelligence drives your attack
powers, so make it your highest ability score. Wisdom
can help you maintain control over your enemies if
you choose the orb of imposition form of Implement
Mastery, so it should be your second-best score. Make
Dexterity your third best score. Putting a good score in
Constitution can help you stay alive by increasing your
hit points and healing surges, as well as contributing
to your Fortitude defense. If you choose the staff of
defense form of Implement Mastery, your Constitution
can also help your other defenses. Select powers that
help you control the battlefield and make the best use
    of your high Wisdom score.
Suggested Feat: Improved Initiative (Human feat:
    Human Perseverance)
    Suggested Skills: Arcana, Diplomacy, Insight,
    Nature
Suggested At-Will Powers: cloud of daggers,
    thunderwave
    Suggested Encounter Power: icy terrain
    Suggested Daily Power: sleep

    and the War Wizard
    War Wizard
Your delight is in powers that deal damage—lots of
damage, to many foes at a time. Enormous bursts of
fire, searing bolts of lightning, and waves of caustic
acid are your weapons. Intelligence is your most
important ability score. Dexterity should be your
second-best score, and it is important if you choose the
wand of accuracy form of Implement Mastery. Make
Wisdom your third-best score. You might instead
choose the staff of defense form of Implement Mastery,
which lets your Constitution aid your defenses against
some attacks. Even if you don’t, Constitution increases
your hit points, healing surges, and Fortitude defense.
Select powers that deal lots of damage and that make
the best use of your high Dexterity score.
    Suggested Feat: Expanded Spellbook (Human
    feat: Action Surge)
    Suggested Skills: Arcana, Dungeoneering, History,
    Religion
Suggested At-Will Powers: magic missile, scorching
    burst
    Suggested Encounter Power: burning hands
    Suggested Daily Power: acid arrow

So I would say War Wizard is more plausible than a Warlock.
As Abm..*Why the heck do I keep doing that* Ambisinister said it could be a odd NPC(although I doubt it).
Maybe someone knows and wont tell us all the info.
I think it "looks" like a War Wizard though.

P.S. Can someone find out why I want to call Ambisinister "Abminster" and Elminster. (Maybe he actually is Elminster and he gained the ability to come to our world to tell Cryptic what the Forgotten Realms are really like, and I can somehow sense this)

    I will complete this sentence.

Well I suspected warlock because the person using it was a Tiefling.
