I couldn't find an appropiate section to put this thread in, but here goes...:
What previous D&Dbased games have you played? Which one did you think was the "best" and why?
My list:
Baldur's Gate series (1-2 with expansions) Also my favourite game all time (yeah, better then the Elder Scroll series). Even today I get all nostalgic when I hear a music piece from that series. It had a great story, neat character develpoment and the game just absorbed you. The word epic is thrown aroudna lot these days, but that series, was and is, truly epic.
Icewind Dale-series (1-2 with expansions). Was ok. Neat that one could create an entire party and have all members "matter".
Planescape Torment. Dissapintment, from my point of view. To.. open. Just got lost all the time and couldn't find any trail. To random.
Neverwinter Nights series (1-2 with expansions). In the absence of Baldur's Gate, this filled the void in my gamer-soul (not fully). Ok story, but the characters lacked the depth. Mask of the Betrayer was just awful, forcing everything to evolve around eating souls. But hey, anything with a kobold bard in it, is ok by me (although he was cut from NwN2).
DDO:
Lacks depth and story. I hope NwNO will take take very few ideas from this game, especially grapichs, combat and story.
This list is purely made up of personal thoughts and experiences. That said, what experience and thoughts do you guys/gals have about former D&Dbased games?

I had the same problem with planescape. My fav is neverwinter nights. The second one was about half as good. Icewind dale had brilliant combat but baldurs gate had a good story and characters, and it gets points for being the first game of its type.
Neverwinter nights had a good story, reasonably good characters and the toolset was just amazing. Undrentide was good. Hiordes of the underdark was not so good but did bring loads of extra content.

Nice to know I wasn't alone with the feeling of being lost with Planescape Torment:).

Dark Sun (1 & 2)
Eye of the Beholder (1, 2 & 3)
Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession
Dragonlance (two of them, not sure of which ones though)
Dungeon Hack
Baldur's Gate (1 & 2)
Icewind Dale (1 & 2)
Planescape: Torment
Neverwinter Nights (1 & 2)
The Temple of Elemental Evil
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone
Dungeons & Dragons Online
If it had expansion(s), then I had it(them).
No "best" for me. I liked some more than others and while games like the original Eye of the Beholder (or especially Dungeon Hack) lack "story" worth the name (compared to stuff like "Planescape: Torment" or "Mask of the Betrayer"), I had lots of fun and are still remembered very fondly.
If I had to really choose maybe I'd vote for Neverwinter Nights 2 and its expansions.
If you were to ask for the worst, I'd say those of the Dragonlance. Or the bugs of "The Temple of Elemental Evil". XD

He's a merchant, and can be recruited for your stronghold.
Isn't the Facebook Neverwinter game based on 4E too?
the word "video" says - no.
EDIT: see! I am nerdishly smart to play with words in evil way >:-)
EDIT 2: I should perhaps prepare warlock's contracts for my ability to fine print >:-) Time to send my resume to Asmodeus...

"A video game is an electronic game that involves human interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device. The word video in video game traditionally referred to a cathode ray tube (CRT) display device,[1] but it now implies any type of display device that can produce two or three dimensional images. The electronic systems used to play video games are known as platforms; examples of these are personal computers and video game consoles. These platforms range from large mainframe computers to small handheld devices. Specialized video games such as arcade games, while previously common, have gradually declined in use. Video games have gone on to become an art form and industry."

I'm honestly partial to the old goldbox games with Curse of the Azure Bonds being my favorite. I really like the tactical aspect of the combat and still to this day keep an old 486 hooked up in the gameroom so I can play them a few times a year without messing with DOSBox or the like.

While I almost NEVER refer to my "favorite" games of D&D by commercial referral, a lot of my favorite old-school computer games are being offered on sale by GoG (formerly Good Old Games) at a "Diamonds of D&D" linked offer. Mind you, that deal ends/ended five days from the weekend of this post, but the point is almost all of them (no Dark Sun for example) are ones I loved to play or wished I had still. I'm currently playing or replaying Planescape and the BG series. For the record, these are the games offered, in the list:
Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga
Baldur's Gate 2 Complete
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition
Icewind Dale 2 Complete
Icewind Dale Complete
Temple of Elemental Evil, The
Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone
Planescape: Torment
Now, due to the SPAM issues, I won't link anything, but if you were to search engine GoG and Diamonds of D&D, you could get more info (or at least until the sale ends/ended for the latter.)
I am divining that you are just pretending in order to forget it. Otherwise I envy your lucky life...
I checked it out. Why did you lead me along this path? Why? b:shocked

Pool of radiance:: Ruins of Myth Drannor, Loved the game but didn't have a huge following because many people found it complicated at the time, and the online mode let it down, they could have scrapped the online option and pooled the resources to improve single player.
