In the Forgotten Realm books there there was an organization called the Harpers if I can remember right. It's been a while since I've read one of them. Just wondering if they are going to be in the game. There was also another evil organization, it started with a Z, I think.
Yes the Harpers are indeed in the game. We've seen some footage of someone getting a quest from a Harpers agent.
EDIT: In addition, "Well-Informed Barmaids" in various tavern provide information on user-generated foundry quests in the area. They are also with the Harpers (at least some are).
The only "z" organization coming to mind is the Zhentarim. I don't think there's any news about them.

Yes on both groups being involved in Neverwinter. As for how, that must remain a secret for now, and no manner of dark chocolate bribery will make me talk!
A group that seeks to help neverwinter develop into the bastion of good it was before the cataclysm, the Harpers have suffered Numerous setbacks in the region.
You own a harper pin. A slightly tarnished brooch, the pin resembles nothing so much as a cheap bauble. However, it is an Object of great power and even greater significance. Not only does the pin bestow protection on you, but while you wear it, you can utter secret prayers beseeching on of the Harper's patron Goddesses to shield you from harm or punish your enemies. Tymora bestows luck to let you escape a deleterious misfortune, Mielikki lends her strength to help endure pain, and Lliira gives her joyful grace to keep your attack true. Such pins also serve as keys to magically warded Harper caches and safe houses, and allow Harper agents to recognize one another.
i am hoping that they will allow to add this to our character themes, possibly for a factional Pvp base if one could be created/developed.

Another location of interest in the Forgoten Realms in Myth Drannor. Just wondering if this is going to be an area to explore. Also, what is the location of Neverwinter compared to where Waterdeep use to be. Is there a map of the region any where?

I found a map that shows me where Waterdeep is but I guess my question should have been, how much of Faerun is going to be in a Neverwinter MMO?
After the SpellPlague (conversion from 3rd to 4th edition setting), many things have changed.
Waterdeep still stands, not so glorious as it was before, but it is still there and still quite large. Now areas of it have fallen to dark forces/undead/etc. but for the most part people still flock there.
Neverwinter is quite a bit North of Waterdeep (between Waterdeep and Luskan). The pirates of Luskan are all but wiped out. It did not fare well in the years since the spell plague. It is still quite corrupted and not somewhere you want to live, but not the threat it used to be. The city is ruled by a group of Pirate Lords and their forces, no longer controlled by the Host Tower.
Neverwinter itself survived the SpellPlague pretty much unharmed. It was a jewel to the north and became a target for several forces. The Ashmodai (asmodeus cult), Netherese, Thay and a few others all have been trying to take it over. A few decades back the primal elemental who was trapped in the Volcano Mt. Hotenow escaped for a while and caused a MASSIVE eruption. The result was devestating to the City of Neverwinter. Chasms formed, rivers ran with lava and hundreds if not thousands died. This is the city you will be starting in. One that is trying to rebuilt, but with many factions trying to take over.
The Harpers are not what they were. Over the Centuries they have suffered great losses and are not as well organized as before. The Harpers in neverwinter area have suffered from infiltration and outright murder. In the book "Brimstone Angels" a harper agent visits Neverwinter and suggests to the order that it be abandoned. There are demons in places of power, cultists all around, the streets are not safe, etc. Even the Abolithic Sovereignty is in play in neverwinter.
Elminster is not exactly up and around much anymore. Last I read he was a pile of sentient ash. But he had very little to do with Neverwinter anyway.
Drizzt is in the area and may make an appearance in the game though.
Mystra, the goddess of magic was murdered. This caused the spellplague. Many of the gods have either changed names/portfolios, etc. Lathander is now Amaunator, etc. So there will be a lot changed in this game from what you remember.

Just to clarify, the imprisonment and the eruption by the primordial are secret, including the eruption was caused by the escape attempt of/on an imprisoned primordial.
The questions has been answered by SS, check it here in mechanics section.
As far as Neverwinter is concerned, we're focusing on the city itself, and the surrounding areas. As many of you have already mentioned, the world of Toril is vast, and Faer?n itself is a very large continent.
There are naturally quite a few different areas outside of Neverwinter's surroundings we would like to look into, and be able to bring to life. However, I think that focusing on this one area, and the myriad of adventures that you can find there, will make for a better game at release.
We'll be talking some more about the different areas in the game as we move closer to launch. Some of them (such as Vellosk) you'll recognize immediately from the source material. Other areas however, you will find have been created specifically for Neverwinter.
Some of the maps avilable can be viewed in Neverwinter wiki on wikia. The frontpage and regions part.
As per this with the ability to make modules via the Foundry in any location in the Sword Coast, this covers the initial Neverwinter and her extended local range. I'm sure this could be expanded on in the future when expansions by the company come out also.
Besides that, the other posts are very clear in their information. Edit: Clarified other posts and added Gillrmn's links and SS's quote.
Edit: Updated my FAQ to add the question and answer the game takes place in Neverwinter and the surrounding Sword Coast.

Yeah but when you know, its tough to know what is spoiler and what not... thinking back, a lot of things in lore of wiki are probably spoilers... *sigh* I should check it again sometime soon and put spoiler tags on ones which I probably shouldn't have mentioned.
Hadn?t been Mystra missing during Baldur?s Gate 2? I dont remember, so correct me please If so, what happend with her? where had she gone?
PS: sry for english
[SPOILERS!!!]
Well, whatever happened in that game was not Cannon, but unfortunately, she did die in 4E, which caused the Spellplague. In gaming cannon, she has not been revived yet, but in novel cannon, she has.

But I encourage all users to try anyway in bulk
In the forgotten realms yes, but not specifically tied to Neverwinter.
