Not really any new info on the game mechanics, and the comments on the article are depressing as always with all the nay-sayers ready to tear into the game without their having any info about it, but glad to see some more press out there about the game and always nice to be reminded how much a D&D geek Squez is.

Hopefully this means a start of more activity on the site? Maybe some 'Ask Cryptics' coming up or a screenshot or two each week just showing off game art or fun moments in-game of you all testing it in-house?

I found it interesting that this producer is drawing clear associations to the Neverwinter Nights games, they were more reluctant to do so in the past... hopefully that means they are taking a robust foundry very seriously. Or it could all be marketing again.

Is that a new screenshot you've snuck in on the home page's link to the article? I see something similar in the screenshots section, but not that exact image.

And yes, I agree with Hythian, this website desperately needs a little more life breathed into it. It was nice to be invited to your little shindig here, but the snack tray's been empty for months and the party playlist is just a handful of songs on a loop.

That's a hint that you should go home and let them get some sleep you deadbeat ;)

    Cocktails at Bozer's place!

Good thing there isn't more activity on this site. I'm only going to need about 8 cocktails, tops.

Yeah have to agree that the website has gone to **** for a long while now... mainly it's the lack of Dev interaction. They used to be strong and was good during the summer but till the tail end it was "Wait... just wait... lots of news will be coming" which was cited numerous time and in the end nothing ever came of it. I know I hear Stormshade is off mostly in the STO forums so I doubt there be any meaningful interaction here for a long while. Unless you consider the PW acquisition and the new direction of neverwinter the " big news" which many do not consider it.

Fow a game that was ready to be launched but decided to postpone it to "upgrade" the game to an MMO that has zero gameplay vids nor demos of any kind to the public I find hard to swallow. I don't think Cryptic really cares much about this site and are focusing elsewhere. Which is fine, I have my Skyrim and will have my GW2 before any noteable news is release about Neverwinter... maybe I might come back here to check out for any cookies... maybe. GW2 was bad enough with the wait game and not about to repeat it again where there has been nothing to show for it when they have plenty to show but refuse to show it.

making it a mmo means that the co-op fun of taking down big monsters and feeling bad-HAMSTER, is probably now falling to gang mentality, meanging: ganging up on a monster with a bunch of people like you typically see in a mmo, being spammed with particles and everyone only getting a few hits in and it not feeling satisfying at all. It's really disappointing if that's where this goes because it's in EVERY mmo and it's such an old style now of gaming. Just because a game is a mmo doesn't mean there needs to be raids. It's just old and tiresome and everyone who's played a lot of mmos, knows all the stupidity that goes into it and the forced grouping and BS. In these situations it really feels like I was cheated of a battle because i needed help to fight a monster. Duo is awesome but more than that is disgustingly boring, unheroic. LoTRO for example these days, with it's tiny community would be more fun if it was all duo/trio. Sure people can group up more if they want, but don't hold down people who can't, or just don't want to.

lol then go duo the big baddy instead of taking a whole party ? yes ?

btw why is the even older fashioned co-op not old and tiresome lol ?

I understand what you are getting at, but MMO does not necessarily mean those things any more. My suggestion, to see what is possible in an MMO, is to check out Champions or COH since they are both F2P. And when Star trek Online goes F2P in January (17th i believe), check it out as well, since it is using the same engine as Champions (and Neverwinter when it launches) but is a vastly different game.

Hmm, maybe I should ask Cryptic for some coin plugging their other two MMO's? :)

Seriously, until it launches, any preconceptions we have could be seriously wrong. But if you are going to have preconceptions, at least base them off of games made with the same engine by the same company...and current versions at that ( for those of you who want to bring up the previous publisher and its "mad rush out the door"...this one is getting an extra year).

This is just my thought on it though one of the big things I've enjoyed since the days of muds in the late 80's thru the 90's is this type of game and some of the new age stuff kind of like aion had with fortresses and different factions but this game is going to need something really cool like that or better to get the attention of mainstream gamers like myself and others who post here and those who do not post here because their attention hasn't been turned to Cryptic as a game they would want to play yet. I also do like the aspect of going to the enemy factions territory and able to do pvp and games where it actually means something when you have acquired pvp gear. I'm just hoping they develop a MMO out of this fantasy genre that isn't like every other one thats come out because thats what it feels like.

Gotta agree with that. I still play both of those games since beta launch and theres a lot to be said for the small team. I mean, the largest party I ever played with in table top was eight people, so COH felt real familiar with that. Plenty of particle effects for eye candy there. Raids are just a slog, and I don't feel like much is contributory. Thats just me.

I do hope theyre aware of the "wash rinse repeat" player made missions for generating xp. That nearly killed COH for me, and for a lot of people. However, there was also some killer content created by that player content as well. As long as its monitored, should be sweet meat!
