Cleric Arbiter / Encounter Power: Searing Javelin - animation question

grrowler#0622 grrowler Member Posts: 196 Arc User
I have been running the Neverwinter Siege event and I have noticed when I am on an elevated slope aiming down at enemy mobs, the searing javeling encounter power (from cleric arbiter) just shoots off up to the sky. I do not think I have ever noticed this before - is this something new in the animation?
sometimes, even though the javelin shoots over the heads of the mobs, it still seems to hit the aoe, but I get the feeling visually that I am missing most of the time. I do not know if it has always been like this, and it is just because in the Siege event, there are so many slopes/inclines, maybe I never noticed.
Would anyone know?

There was a somewhat recent change to the power so that it shoots directly at your reticle rather than requiring a target. There may have been some side effect introduced there.

In my experience, even before that change, Searing Javelin always had targeting issues when the mobs are at a different elevation than the player. I generally just try to position "better".

Sorry that's not really any help other than to let you know you're not alone.

Yes, it is a recent change to allow you to point to the gap between 2 (or more) enemies and let most of them (if not all) get hit easier instead of shooting the wrong direction like it was in the past.

it is pretty terrible in that it is very disorienting.

when using it at a horizontal level it is fine, but when you are facing downward towards a mob at a lower level, it shoots upwards towards the sky.

well at least I know I am not crazy... I was trying to take a screenshot to post here, but I could not find my neverwinter screenshots folder.
