"Curve Ball" combat advantage ?!

The other day I happened to notice that I was NOT positioned for combat advantage, but Chilling Cloud has this curve before it hits the target and it hit where combat advabntage was indicated on the ground !
So, now I'm wondering was it a combat advantage hit or not ? Would be nice if that were possible ! But i dont know so I'm left wondering...

    Only your position counts. The animation has nothing to do with it. Basically, if you don't see blue (instead of white) on the enemy's ring, you don't have combat advantage.

    Yea thought as much, but had to be sure.. wondering was fun though.
