This morning I logged in and downloaded the patch(12/14/23); but the site was still down for maintenance. I tried later; but the auto updater kept running. Finally; it opened the login page, but it said "The website is experiencing technical difficulties. Normal game play is not affected.". I logged in and it brought up a window; " Unable to authenticate: Lost connection to Account Server." My brother and I are having the same problem. I called a friend and he had no trouble getting on. I had no trouble yesterday, just after today's patch. HELP!

You may or may not be in the outage area. If the route from your home to Cryptic goes through the outage hub in those area, you would have problem.
On the other hand, if you know how to re-route yourself (such as using VPN or proxy server), it can be a temp solution.

It is like the highway to New York is close and it does not mean you can't go to Chicago.
