disgruntled Whisperknife. Pls acknowledge WK is ranged, not assassin melee

As a WK player i notice WK gets treated as the same as assassin. So when it comes to gear and i see ranger and warlock etc getting gloves that give there ranged attacks a 20% chance to do 300 mag damage (enchanted bregan d'aerthe caster mitts) and i as a ranged get the same gloves every mod that increase the easiest stat to cap that being power is frustrating, when WK unlock only ranged attacks and it already lacking in damage compared to assassin which is more melee so the gear is good for it, but doesn't push WK. Why would i even spend campaign currency on them kind of arms you offer WK when i can just get them for free from vault of stars first boss drop?. ALL WK unlockable paragon powers are ALL ranged, ALL of them. Instead i got to pick away with shurikan toss while assassin does Duelists flurry for so much damage or ranger/warlock spam at-wills to get Enchanted bregan d'aerthe gloves to trigger more times than my actual encounter Impact shot... doesn't makes sense, i have to wait 9 seconds to do 500 mag damage once while other class's can do 300 mag damage a few times in that time without using encounter powers. While Im throwing 60 mag shuriken(also at a slower speed than warlock and ranger too).

I get told "WK is in a great place, very op, doesn't need any fixes or anything", okay if that is true why, after 4 years of playing i only see another WK player once every month or so?, is it because WK is so op people feel it's a cheat mode path?. Or i get told that WK is just fine and i just need to "get good".

Basically WK could really use those gear pieces that help with ranged attacks. Literally every unlockable power is "RANGED". Those Enchanted bregan d'aerthe caster mitts should have had the WhisperKnife tag so we could use them with our ranged attacks. Again before people tell me why WKs are fine and i just need to "get good", why so assassin players out number WKs 1000 to 1?.

Last mod ranger(and i assume warlock/wizard) got another piece of gear that worked with ranged, think it had a timer on it, gloves again i think. I thought oh they're good as i am ranged, mod drops realized it was not for ranged WK, we got more useless power gloves... yay... please please realize WK ISN'T assassin.

    A: please don't leave out important information. The wizard/warlock caster mitts have a 20% chance to do 300 mag damage, with a 20 second cooldown. So you are doing that encounter power twice in the time they get to have their mitts proc once, not as you say several times for each impact shot. Also, impact shot is a bad comparison because it does less damage due to being able to stun if used from stealth.

    b: i think you mean wizard and warlock. Rangers have the same mitts as rogues.

    c: no idea who is telling you WK is in a great place. They aren't in a horrible place, but since you can switch between the WK and assassin by using loadouts, why would you pick the one that is only decent, and not the one that is good? Also, while they all say "ranged," I believe two of the WK's encounter powers actually teleport you to a location in the range, then you do a melee attack (Vengeance's Pursuit and Shadowy Disappearance).

    d: there is not a single item in the game that is flagged for a paragon path, they are only flagged to be used by a class. Some have stats better used by 1 paragon path or another, but that is pretty much for the classes that have different roles for their paths.

    All that being said, it isn't the gear that is hurting WKs compared to assassin, it is the fact they go more toward lower damage AoE/multi-target powers with control effects, and aren't very good in a single target boss fights like assassins.

    A: Nah my bad, i didn't see the 20 second cool down, i agree that's my mistake. Seeing as you explained there's no way they're casting it a few times in 9 seconds means you must have seen my error, right, you could have just said that...

    b: I did mention "warlock" and i mentioned "wizard". As yu know you can only view your classes gear (as far as i know), so i just assumed ranged had that gear, it's a fair assumption.

    c: i get told WK is in a great place all over Youtube, Aragons comment section, Northsides etc. I get told WK needs know work done, yet i even hear Aragon say the devs are looking at WK as assassin is already in a good place. So i guess myself and the devs are wrong?. Vengeance's Pursuit does range damage(says in the key word), Shadowy Disappearance also only says "ranged' attack, no melee, so for example i could buff VP with melee buffs, nor Shadowy. All WK unlockables are "Ranged" keyword.

    d: i know their are no items for paragon specific classes, it was a suggestion that i am sure ALL the player base would love to be introduced, if not they should never become game devs.

    i agree 100% with your last point, it's an overall thing with WK. I never liked assassin, i tried it back in around 2018ish because i heard WK was useless even though i liked the look of it. I played for a few months, really enjoyed the game, found the assassin a bit boring to play, and moved on to other games. Came back in 2020, been playing ever since and went straight in with WK, enjoyed/enjoying more than assassin even with the struggle to keep up. Im not into playing multiple toons/classes, i kinda dedicated myself to WK. I know WK got a bit more popular around 2022 when Aragon uploaded videos hyping the class up a bit.

    Still though, baring my mistake about those gloves i'd still like some ranged gear love for WK, even the 2 unlockable at-wills are both ranged. Cryptic could do a campaign reward chest of a specific to paragon path gear(head piece or something), would be really fun and add more variety to peoples build depending on the gear they choose. Bit like when weapon damage was removed and all of a sudden ALL weapons are viable again

    I forgot about the initial attack with VP, it is so low damage I never really consider that part an attack. But as far as VP and SD having "ranged keyword," you would have to actually test them. The description is only text, and does not affect actual gameplay. So someone with + melee damage and + ranged damage would have to test. The second attack of VP, and both attacks of SD, are not really ranged, and more like Blade Flurry.

    In fact WK has melee options, and with the new mod lashing blade might be a choice. HOWEVER, all powers that I use at this point are ranged. SS/VP/Blitz, DS/ST/CS. But most ranged damage rings are not the best option. They are decent middle ground rings if you just need something to fill. SS/VP are your best encounters and must use. The third is a choice of preference and may be loadout swapped for a particular fight. That said Blitz is still a good option for any fight, but in particular anything that has boss + mobs.
