Can't Input Certain Special Chars in Launcher

To add to the recent launcher struggles since the latest update, I can no longer input any special characters that require an ALT key combination. Most notably this affects the @ sign on my keyboard layout so I have to type the @ elsewhere and copy, paste it over.
