Should this chest be allowed to open?
Am I missing a key somehow?

I do not recall it ever being openable. Your reward is when you turn in the quest.

Didn't there used to be chests with Neverwintertian red veins in them etc?

Thanks. The kick was somehow that run was not counted to complete the event. I needed to do another run. So, I thought I was missing something.

I said it somewhere else but I forget where, I had trouble a couple of times getting the credit for this event, I did the queue and then didn't get it. But what I do now is take the quest from the guy in PE, without leaving his dialogue box go to the event map, then when u look at the guy near the exit u will see he already has the greyed-out question mark over his head, then go to the counter and choose the guy whose queue u want to do for the quest (I pick rocks) and open his dialogue box and click on the red option. Then it will open the queue and I choose the same queue to match the guy I spoke to (so rocks for me) and do that queue, then when I complete it, I click complete from the guy near the exit who now has the blue question mark, I watch to make sure I get my tokens then I go to the vendor next to the counter and buy my companion upgrade tokens and leave.

It is confusing now... I think you take the initial quest and then you have to complete one of Portobello's dungeons in the queue (like Trial of Traps) before you can turn it in. After you have turned it in you can get other quests from the evaluator, one of which is to queue and complete Respen's game. You can turn that one in and get a reward.

So... no rewards from the dungeons, the rewards come from the quests. But you have to complete a quest for Portobello's first before you can get the quest that gives a reward for Respen's. If you do Respen's without having the quest there is not much point.

It depends on if it is the first quest or repeated quest.
For the first quest, it had a dedicated dungeon it asked you to complete. The dungeon name was written in the quest.
For the repeated quest, it said it can be any one of them.

I was doing the repeated quest.
So, I chose all 3. The system gave me the Respen one on that day. I completed it and I noticed the treasure chest could not be opened (as mentioned by the others, this is not relevant). There was no blue diamond above Flabbergast when I was dropped back to the inn.
So, I thought (and thought wrong) that if the treasure chest was the cause. Anyway, I chose all 3 from the event queue again. I forgot I got Traps or Rock (Not Respen's though). I completed that. There was a blue diamond above Flabbergast for me to complete the daily quest.

My typical sequence to play this repeated event quest is:
    1. Go to Portobello in PE, pick up the quest.
    2. Go into the inn
    3. type k. Click Event. Choose all 3 quests. Join selected queue and wait for the queue.
    4. Queue accepted. Send to the map. Finish the dungeon.
    5. Talk to Flabbergast to complete the daily event quest.
    6. Teleport to Moonstone Mask (my parking map).

    Greetings,

This treasure chest can no longer be opened. It was used when Respen's Marvelous Game was a campaign, but it has been converted into an appointment event. The rewards are now granted when completing the quests.

The team is aware that it might be confusing and we will try to modify this for next runs.

When I accept the first quest from the guy in PE it never stipulates which queue it has to be, neither does the guy in the event map tell u which one it is supposed to be. I don't bother with the follow-up ones as it's only a chance for a token same as it is for Siege event and not worth my time, but I did the extra option one time at the start in error and I don't remember it stipulated it then either. It hasn't stipulated what queue to do in any dialogue box I've ever been presented with.

When you get the quest from Portobello, if you type J to find the quest, it told you to go to the inn.
After you get into the inn, if you type J again, it told you which dungeon to go.

The initial quest told you which dungeon.
The repeated quest told you any dungeon will do.

My interpretation of the "initial quest" is the first one of this event.
My interpretation of the "repeated quest" is the daily quest after the "first day".
No, I don't do any extra quest after the daily one.
