I played neverwinter at launch and pulled a whole league over from DCUO at the time to try out the game. I really loved it as I am a huge forgotten realms fan especially the drizzt series. couldn't keep the rest of my leagues interest so I ended up playing mainly by my self. after a time the constant nickel and diming just got to me and I gave it up and went back to DC. then one day Jackster left neverwinter and came to head DCUO huge mistake he brought a ton of the monetization aspects from here to DC and made it way worse before he moved on thinking he was going to head the new marvel game daybreak was building. thankfully that was canceled I'm betting because Jackster was in charge of it.
Im telling you all this story to bring you up to now.
I have recently came back to the game because of the new Menzoberranzan expansion. I really want to see the city they built and compare it to the books. and see if this game is worth picking back up. I see that its all drastically different for sure some in good ways some in bad. but from what I'm seeing the same preditory practices are still going on and if anything much worse that before. they sell zen cash at just below the amounts actually needed for the purchases that are just above what you can buy in a pack still. this is a horrible way to treat your player base and especially new players that don't know what's going on well enough to see how they are being robbed.
The selling of over powered mounts and companions to then later be nerfed so that the next new thing is stronger forcing end game players to then buy that new thing.
Never winter needs to take a step back and look at other games with happier populations like Warframe and the new Wayfinder that is coming out next month. and learn from those companies that know that the balancing act of making profit vs milking your player base for whales. I understand this game is meant to make a profit and thats fine. people generally have no problem supporting a thing they care about. if they feel they are being treated fairly.
I know nothing i said will change anything but if the devs really cared they would care about the games future because as is for this player after spending just a short time back I am already dissuaded from continuing.
one players thought on a world he wanted to love

Build doesn't matter as much as learning all the minefields in this game and none of it is healthy for the game as it leaves many, many people feeling burned before they have spent a significant amount of money on the game. That is why they have epic collars in the store for 1000zen(750,000AD) that can be bought in game on the AH for 25-50K AD. They really do plan to burn people that won't stick around with all the frustrating hidden RNG factors. It's an online snatch and grab. If I was running Gearbox I would care about how this reflects on them as the publisher as opposed to a low reputation small time publisher that mysteriously had enough money to buy both the D&D and Star Trek licenses. There seems to be some connection to Falun Gong given this studio's core values in creating deeply disturbing situations and I don't mean in a sense of respecting them.
