Tomb Spider is unable to hit bosses with large collision boxes.

Hi,

I've noticed that the Tomb Spider companion is unable to hit some bosses (it just stays there as if there's no fight). First, I noticed it wasn't attacking dragon in some ancient dragon runs. After doing some tests, I've realised the issue is related to the size of the collision boxes, and the bug affects other mobs in the game. These are the situation I saw Tomb Spider doing nothing:

- Mostly dragons (dragonflight at stronghold, dragons from dragon runs, the BHE in Northdark, Palhavorytin from MCoK)
- Last boss of Master Temple of Spider
- Timat chest in Master Tiamat's Trial

I've played the content using my Warden (Avery@smagahsmagah2 ). I doubt it is related to the character anyway.

Most of companion gettin "sucked into" dragons hitbox during fight; add to this a constant need to teleport to your side (not oposite), and u get perfect recipe for headache.

Companion Ai need a fix for various reasons.

PS. Tiamat is designed this way, so bring comps/items/powers providin CA instead

    Hi,

The aforementioned issue has nothing to do with CA. Even without CA, all striker companions should attack the boss. Tomb Spider simply doesn't. Since I play a melee build, it is expected that the companion will be at my side during the fights and it should hit the boss due to the close distance.

Maybe repositioning -- which forces companions to get closer -- may generate some conflit to the path finding algorithm. However, it should not apply to Tiamat due to the size of the arena . Maybe increasing the tolerance for companion's teleport-to-the-owner skill will help a little bit, but I'm not sure it will solve the problem.

And BTW, there's no AI in there.

Yes, ur example is way worse, might be related to visual bugs even - player/comapnion not be able to target enemy because it is "invisible".

What i pointed out tho, is need for actual rewiev of companions especially during dragon hunts. And im mainly hintin at this, because of the annouced balancing work.

Have not used any spider comp, does other gettin similar issues too ?

I've played a plenty of companions, most of them are working fine. The ranged companions are specially the best, as they promptly attack enemies regardless of their position. This explain the Sucubbus and other meta companions. However, melee is way behind damage due to its need for getting close to the target. For instance, the last boss of mToS moves too fast, and some companions can't even reach it in time to deliver a few hits.

I noticed that Regis has some problems too. You can often see him in a corner doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes he get stuck and get unable to move to his owner (it won't move until you reach the distance to force it to teleport). Regis is still good, even with this "little inconvenient". In the case of Tomb Spider, it still follows you while refusing to attack.

Not sure about other spide-related companions, but I can try some.

This issue also affected the Black Death Scorpion (and others I think) a little while back and you are correct, it was the hit box size which was preventing them from attacking. It was fixed by the devs, so this companion may have just slipped through the cracks.
Apparently pointing-out the bleeding obvious is a 'personal attack'.

    Greetings,

I have also noticed that kind of behavior on some companion and not sure if it is a related issue but on my ranger also have something similar problem sometimes.
Maybe i can't explain my thoughts properly but it seems like if the enemies 'center' is blocked then companions might see them friendly or invisible so they also can't attack. I mean that with my ranger i cannot target some of the enemies if a friendly player is between us and the player is close to the enemy (in that blue circle visible on the ground). In cases like these enemy has blue aura or none instead of red and i'm getting the "You must have a target" error message so i have to aim above the friendly player so i might be able to target the enemy (depending on their size) or go to another side of the enemy to taget them from a different angle. Not sure if companions have these troubleshoting 'coded' in them.

    Edit for spelling
