What am I supposed to do with my old enchantments?

mithrosnomoremithrosnomore Member Posts: 693 Arc User
I have been away for a while. Decided to stick my head in and play around for a little while, and I wanted to clear out "old business" before starting anything new, and saw that I had mail. I go to a mailbox and see that my enchantments have all been removed and that I should go to the reward claims agent.

Okay, fine, I'll see what's what. Not like I haven't done this before with other systems that were altered in some way.

But this wasn't like before.
I can't see where I can turn in the old enchantments for anything.
I saw another thread that seemed to say that they had to be rank 10+ to exchange. Okay, that's a load of junk from the devs if true, but I have a rank 14 and I can't find anything letting me exchange that, either.

I guess I am supposed to be looking at the "enchantment unlocks" tab, but his currencies are strange... "Fortified Nature"? "Recharge Bonus"? Those aren't any enchantments I remember, and certainly none that I have. Where do I turn in "Ancient Dark Enchantment" or "Heart of Fire Enchantment"?

Now I have all of these taking up space in my inventory and no clue how to upgrade myself to whatever this new system is.
I still even have an enchanment tab on my character sheet, but it won't take anything, so I am well and truly clueless here.

If someone could explain this, or even direct me to the "official" explanation that I might understand what I am supposed to do I would appreciate it.

You can't exchange your heart of fire into anything, however all your ancient enchants (rank 10+) can be exchanged with the antiquities vendor (next to the reclaim agent in Protector's enclave). There are several tabs for various old stuff.

Enchantment which is less than rank 10 -> RP
Heart of Fire Enchantment, rank 14 -> RP
Enchantment which rank 10 and more -> (A) change to medallion (B) sell it in AH.

You can exchange Enchantment rank 10 and higher to medallion in reclaim agent.

*** Important *** However, if you cannot make a medallion set of 30/60/90/120, do not bother to get medallion. Sell them in AH. You need to count how much medallion you can get before you actually do it and only get 30/60/90/120.

If you cannot exchange for medallion, congratulation because you did not waste much (because you did not invest much) comparing with those who has few rank 10, 11, 12. Your life is a lot easier relatively.

You can buy new rank 1 in Sage Shop for 100K each. A new rank 1 is better than old rank 15.

If one goes through exchange method, one needs 30 medallion to exchange for one new rank 1.

    1. For rank 5 enchantment in Re-claim agent, those are account wide rank 5 (say Cobalt) (every toon can get one character bound rank 5 Cobalt). To buy an account wide rank 5, you need to use a regular rank 5 to exchange. Note that: regular rank 5 can be unbound and be sold in AH. Account wide rank 5 cannot. You can either upgrade to rank 5 regular or buy it from AH.

    2. I said use Re-claim to get medallion. It was wrong. The right place is Antiquities Scholar (next to re-claim agent). However, the exchange only shows up (in "refinement" tab and "combat enchantments" tab) if you have the eligible old enchantment.

    3. runestone is treated the same as enchantment in terms of exchange and value. Need rank 10 or higher.

    Ahh, so it did.

    Thanks again for your help.

Two more questions for the world and I hope to be done with this subject:

I noticed when clicking to refine my enchantments, and then again with an artifact that I had, that I need a "Glyph of Potency".

Does this mean that all of the Marks of Potency I have are now useless?
I didn't even see slots to add Preservation or Coalescent Wards? Are those worthless now as well?

Funny if so because I just got a Preservation Ward out of a Celestial Coffer, but I don't see how to slot them in the current interface.

Is the Wondrous Bazaar the only source of these Glyphs of Potency?

Yes, all the Marks of Potency are useless for game operation. They can be dumped as RP. High rank Marks of Potency can be exchanged for AD with Antiquities Scholar.

There is now preservation ward and Coalescent mote.
    Ward is for protection.
Mote is for chance. Coalescent mote is 100% chance.

There are 3 ingredients for protection. (1) RP, (2) Gold and (3) Reagent (can be Glyph of Potency, can be Enchanting stone depends on what you try to upgrade).

You can decide what to protect by p-ward. You can choose to protect all 3. i.e. 3 p-ward can be consumed in one failure.

When upgrade fails, one of the 3 items will be consumed randomly.
If the chosen item is protected by p-ward, the items are saved.
If you use p-ward (regardless how many and which item you want to protect), when it fails, all the p-ward + the item you did not protected (if it is chosen to be consumed) will be consumed.

e.g. if you choose to use p-ward to protect Glyph of Potency and do not protect RP and Gold, when it fails and gold is chosen, the p-ward and gold will be consumed. If Glyph of Potency is chosen, the p-ward will be consumed.

Mote is for chance. Mote is consumed when the upgrade is successful vs ward is consumed is consumed when the upgrade fails.

For upgrading enchantment, IMO, I would just use a Coalescent mote. The base chance of upgrading enchantment is 0%. i.e. you always needs to add a mote (which can be 1%, 2%, 5%, 10% and 100%). IM0, only using Coalescent mote for upgrading enchantment makes sense unless one really love to gamble for bad odds.

You can get Glyph of Potency from Wonderous Bazaar but it is the most expensive place unless you have VIP discount.

If you don't have VIP discount, buying it from AH is cheaper than from Wonderous Bazaar.
You can also buy it from Sybella Artis using legacy campaign currency (Heroes Medallion). Each GoP is 10 Heroes Medallion each. Each completion of Legacy campaign quest from Sybella gives you 5 Heroes Medallion. All my GoP were purchased from Sybella store. I upgraded 12 enchantments to max.

Okay, so I "didn't lose much" but I still lost, and a relatively great deal because of what I invested in getting most of my enchants to rank 7-8. Not as much as other? Okay, but I still lost and I get to decide if I lost "too much", even if someone that lost more doesn't think so.

Guess I'll head to the sage shop and see what, exactly, I need 100K of to buy the new medallion and try to figure out the new system... Why do I still have an enchantments tab if enchantments are no longer in the game?

Ah well, thanks for your time.

It probably won't really matter since I think the game would rather people like me stop taking up space, but I appreciate it.

Because rank 7-8 were "garbage" before this enchantment change. It was worthless for a long time. i.e. you and everybody else loss their rank 7/8/9 investment value for a long time.

I still have few hundreds of old rank 7/8/9 stash somewhere.

The old enchantment were renamed to be "Ancient ....".

Yeah, I noticed that I had a bunch of ancients, but while you are in an answering mood, maybe you can help me with this...

So I go to the Sage Shop and they sell whatever enchantments, let's say Cobalt, for 100K AD.
The Reclaim Agent offers a Cobalt Rank 5 for sale, but other than telling me that I do not have enough Cobalt enchantment it doesn't tell me how much I do need to buy it.
Upgrading is still an option, right?

And then what are medallions anyway? I see now that there are just new enchantments so that is why I still have an enchantment page, but I don't see anything about medallions.

And what about Runestones, for that matter? My companion still has a runestone slot, I can not put any of my old runestones in there, but I haven't noticed any new types of runestones anywhere. Is there someone I have to talk to about those, or am I just supposed to play until I find something?

    Thanks again.

Hmmm... I was sure that I said that the last post was helpful, but as soon as I clicked it disappeared.

Anyway, thanks again. Guess I'll just dump all of my AD on new enchants and see what happens. Just have to figure out which ones are worth getting.

Won't make much difference, I suppose. I'll suck just a little bit less and still not be useful for end-game content, but the Zen I would have eventually gotten had I sold that AD wouldn't make much difference, either.

I thought it disappeared too but it is not. The forum somehow moved that post up (the 3rd post now) when you flag it 'Answer'.

Once you get an enchantment to mythic you can trade it in (via the Reclaims Agent or your dashboard "Claim Valuables") for an account-wide reclaim; each of your alts can claim 1 of whichever you traded in.

You can see here where you can put the preservation wards to protect the reagents, and were to put the motes to increase success change. Coalescent are changed to motes (they are not wards anymore) to get a 100% chance to upgrade.

Also, be carefull with preservations. If you dont put any and fail, you lose 1 random reagent. If you put 3 and fail, you lose all 3 preservations.

Okay, thanks again for everyone's help.

I have been working through and exploring and trying different things, so I think that I have a handle on things now.

Definitely good to know that my various Marks of Potency are useless now, though. I mean, relatively speaking. At least I can clear all of that bank space and not worry about discovering some use down the road.
