What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Stop cryptomining with my PC please

So when I quit the game there's always a ArcOSBrowser.exe left up running and using 10-20% of my CPU. ( nothing new here, been reported in forums for over one year )
Yeah this could be a bug, however it's been like this pre mod 22.

Also it only starts "working" once you leave the game and quit the ArcOS client or whatever the hell you call it.
It also uses more CPU resources than the actual game, which is ridiculous.

I've collected some logs of CPU time and network data and it seems that it is indeed sending data as well so it's not just some bug EXE getting stuck, i.e. most likely mining in the background.

Will report this to the local EU commercial authorities with logs, meanwhile I suggest you fix this "bug" until it escalates.

Don't use Arc Launcher to start Neverwinter.

You are using ARC client?? I quit using in first week when it was introduced. I use game client directly and no epic/arc or steam..

The part of data collecting. Well ARC, Steam, Epic, or pick other game publishers who have own clients. They track and collect some of information about your pc/laptop. What kind system you using, hardware( CPU, GPU, RAM, Storages, motherboard, etc), softwares ( OS version, drivers, API's).

GPU vendors also do same stuff, CPU vendors do also same stuff.. In these days almost every app have feature to track your activity.

The ARC Client system load, as far I remember ARC is more than just mini browser.. It have friend lists, chat in same platform. So if there are players in friendlist, client sent request to server, is this person online and which game he play(arc covers more than just Neverwinter).

Now solution, don't want ARC client cause exra load to system, then don't use it.. Personally I found no use of it at all. I want read forum I read via internet browser. They are more optimised for such tasks. :)

You have to manually turn ARC off. Far easier not to use it at all. I only turn it on when I charge. Run the game from the resident .exe.

As others have mentioned just launch the launcher directly from the Neverwinter install dir. Remove ARC, it's horrible bloatware that does not comply with GDPR in Europe. I mentioned this to the Amsterdam office, but they are unlikely to change anything unless they are threatened with a fine.

If Neverwinter gets uninstalled with Arc, try to dig up the old beta client standalone exe. Should still be available somewhere.

My wife said the original setup files can be found on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UGC.Authors/files

You will need a Facebook account to access those files, but she started the public group back when it was known as Foundry Authors. She left as head of the group after the foundry ended and they changed the name to being more generic.

I can see neverwinter_setup.exe.zip is in there as well as star-trek-online-setup.exe.zip Even if those files get deleted in some point in the future, she has made back ups somewhere. I think there was talk of a torrent to be made? When I search all I find is Neverwinter Nights.

    I've been using the shortcut:
    "C:\Program Files\Games\Neverwinter_en\Neverwinter.exe"

So I'd be guessing just find the Neverwinter.exe and shortcut that to your desktop, or wherever you keep your app launching shortcuts.
Me, I have it pinned to my taskbar.
