Incorrect unbind cost of upgradable items

sergey235711sergey235711 Member Posts: 161 Arc User
Unbind cost of upgradable items depends on item quality. For example most uncommon artifacts (at level 1) could be unbound for 10 tokens and mythic artifacts (at level 140) could be unbound for 50 tokens. So I can unbind artifact for 10 tokens and then upgrade it to mythic instead of unbinding mythic for 50 tokens. Upgradable items must have same unbind cost on all ranks (same as on max rank).

But you generally can't upgrade an artifact without first rebinding it to a character. The point is moot.

When you upgrade it to mythic, you will have to unbind it again if you wanted to trade it. Making the initial 10 tokens you spent a waste.

Unbind tokens completely remove binding from items, so items didn't bind after refining.

If that's the case, sounds like it's a bug with it not binding after upgrading.

Is it something new? An unbind item (as least used to) be bound right the way during refining.

    case 1:
bound mythic -> 50 unbound token -> unbound mythic

    case 2:
bound green -> 10 unbound token -> unbound green -> refined for 1RP -> bound green -> more refine -> bound mythic

Unbind tokens removes the possibility for an item to be bound at all. The "binds on equip (character/account)" text is replaced by "unbound". It will stay unbound after both equiping and refining.

In that case, one should unbound the item before upgrading it if one can decide way ahead that the upfront expense worthwhile. Cryptic is smart on this one. It makes people blindly to spend 10 unbound token upfront (because it is a 'deal') without knowing it actually worth it in the end (which can be months and years later).

It makes perfect sense for the unbind token difference between different level. If they are the same price, nobody will spend to unbind anything in green (the beginning) but just do it right before it needs to be moved to alt or be sold in AH.

So, if this is WAI you unbind all your artifacts for your main when green (or any other quality), upgrade them to your heart's content knowing you can share them with all your alts.... hmmm

Good income for Cryptic. And it is not only about sharing them with all your alts but selling them in AH. So, if you have quite a few good bound rings, you will need to unbind it before putting them to AH. So, Cryptic collects a cut (in $) upfront for that regardless if you can sell it for good AD or not.

The purest monopolist, who wants to keep AH under his own control. This post has nothing to do with bugs or "fairness".Read carefully what he writes. He wants to take away the opportunity for all players to remove the binding and limit the number of players who could sell things on AH. He is afraid of fair competition. Don't forget that these tokens can be easily obtained in the game. You don't even have to pay real money. This once again shows, that the introduction of unbind tokens is the right decision.
