Does anyone know what is the total download size of the game? It’s been a couple years since I played since I quit the game after mod 16 dropped and thought I give the game another go.
i can't say for SURE, but generally I monitor things like this due to slow internet speed and I believe its roughly 15-16gigs. I actually am getting ready to restall after buying an SSD. If I don't forget I will let you know.
Mine is showing 33 or 34 GB without Arc or Steam launchers, I don't bother with them. I estimate adding about 1 to 3 GB for the Arc or Steam launcher, assuming you want those on your PC.
Note: The official system requirements state only 23 GB, maybe someone needs to update that information?

sorry i gave misinformation, but i could have sworn it was roughly 15g, but i am redownloading it as we speak, guess i should have shut my mouth before, hehe...:)
I have found that over time the overall folder size for the game increases as it keeps patching, I found this out a few times when I first looked at the folder size then deleted it and re-downloded it again and it was way smaller. I came to the conclusion that it does not delete files when it patches which makes it increase in size over time. My Neverwinter_en folder is currently showing 35.5GB. Maybe people should all go have a look and come back here and write their numbers.
Apparently pointing-out the bleeding obvious is a 'personal attack'.

Mine is sitting at a whopping 47gb! [Actually closer to 50gb in reality]
As well: if you venture to the preview server, the installation roughly doubles. So, you can start on a 15GB when selected "patch on demand", but it will grow with each patch/map visited... and the preview server will be doubling every single file once you visit it.

Wow.

@blargskull I went and looked at the Neverwinter live folder I have and I got this...
edit: I don't do preview, at least I have never gone there or downloaded it in a really long time (only went there 1 or 2 times years ago I think), and def not since I last deleted the game then reinstalled it later so preview content doesn't affect my main neverwinter_en folder.

Oops! I should have targeted @callumf#9018 as he was the user with almost 50 GB.
Thanks but the thing that is scary is this ... I have never ever been on or downloaded or done anything to do with the Preview Server. Nil. Nada. Zilch... so very much a bloated folder
I had about 2.5 GB in the prepatch, don't delete the live\piggs hogg files. If you do, they will download again.
The largest hogg file is the audio. I guess they don't use much compression in those libraries. The bins is where they keep the 3D models and maps. Both are about 9 GB each with the audio coming in just a bit higher. It would be nice if they offered options for downloading alternate audio content, but they have issues just managing what they have, I wouldn't want to add more stress than they already have now.
These hogg files are libraries that contain the needed data and is loaded or extracted to a temporary file as you play. The prepatch should delete after update, I cannot reason why they would keep it on your hard drive.
I have several programs on my computer which when they update to a new version they also delete old files no longer needed/obsolete, you see the deletion stage happen in the updater status, but it appears that the Neverwinter installer just leaves things there which should not be there and should be deleted because they're not needed anymore, bloating-out the folder.
I've done this several times and seen the result for myself, but for the benefit of this thread I just did it again. I just deleted then re-downloaded the game and can show the difference in folder size before and after.
As I haven't felt the urge to play in a bit I had not yet downloaded the latest patch, so before I did the deletion I allowed the game to patch the latest one. This should mean that what is in my Neverwinter_en folder is up to date and the correct file size for the game. I then took a new screenshot of the folder...
I then did a straight delete of the entire Neverwinter_en folder so it was gone and went to the install page for the game. I did a full download and install, I never do patch on demand, I always download the entire game at once so what is downloaded should be the entire game and all necessary files.
Prior to download...
I waited for it to download fully, then launched the game and let it patch fully (which is where most of the file/folder size comes from), I then did an extra step of a force verify to ensure that all files were correct and there wasn't any more files needing to be patched. Once done I then logged-into the game to make sure it was working, it was, then closed it completely and went to look at the Neverwinter_en folder and took a new screenshot...
As you can see the folder size when freshly downloaded and installed is considerably less than it was before. The launcher does not delete old out of date files when patching. It just leaves them there.

woah indeed!
The dynamic on the go patching is not very popular, so few people use it. Looking at my Neverwinter folder...
I am getting, told 2 numbers; Size: 58.7 GB and Size on Disk: 58.8 GB. Also it contains 2,126 Files, 199 Folders. Looks bloated to me.
BRB...
ok figured it out @rockster#6227 you also have the preview in there. Going down 1 more level to Neverwinter\Live...
Size: 30.2 GB (32,493,630,308 bytes)
Size on Disk: 30.2 GB (32,495,435,776 bytes)
Contains: 1,132 Files, 99 Folders
Deleting Playtest folder now.
Just killing time...
