Unable to refine armour enchantment shards

I have a stack of 9 fireburst weapon enchantment shard that I am attempting to refine in order to get a rank 7 fireburst enchantment. Unfortunately the refinement screen will only recognize 8 of the 9 shards and I am unable to refine the stack of 9. I have screenshots of the stack of 9 shards but I am unable to paste this into this post as it keeps asking for a URL for the image. Can someone please investigate why 9 shards are not being recognized when they are clearly in my inventory ? Thanks

    Because you need 10, not 9. One as the base "item to refine" (top of the window) to be refined and 9 to be the regents ("Regents Needed" be destroyed in the process) to do the operation.

    Ok thanks Plasticbat. UI seems confusing as it seems to indicate 9. Will try 10
