Bug or feature? Slimy bracers of the kuo-toa and Gaiters of the Successor

flublblbluflublblblu Member Posts: 25 Arc User
Hello,

Despite having the same equip power name (Sniper's Advantage), the Slimy Bracers of the kuo-toa (which are quite hard to get) have an inferior version of the power than the gaiters of the successor. Gaiters give 5% combat advantage when further than 50', whereas the bracers of the Kuo-Toa only give flat 1500.

Steps to verify the bug:
1. Have both items
2. Read the powers, they are different
3. Find a dummy, in chult, the guild castle, vallenhas, anywhere else, to verify
4. Attack it from more than 50'
5. The bracers show a 1500 increase, and the gaiters a 5%

Is this intended?

Thanks,

    Hello @flublblblu,

    I already answered on Discord but updating this thread too;

After investigation, we concluded that it is not a bug. They are indeed two different powers internally, but they have the same name.

Thank you for your help, and have fun on Neverwinter!

    Thanks @percemer
I'm a bit disappointed as I don't see the point of making them this rare then, and the situational nature of the bonus makes it far from OP, but okay.

    Kind Regards,

The conditions on the gaiters make them very difficult to take advantage of. 50' from an enemy is pretty far away, much further than ranged characters will typically fight. Yes, there are scenarios where it will happen, but it's not normal. It also means the gaiters are useless to melee characters. The flat 1500 from the bracers is being applied all the time, and so are much less restrictive.

The gaiters have the same 50' restriction, they aren't always active (I tested to verify too)
