Skulls alongside enemy HP bar -- what does it mean?

Sometimes when an enemy spawns its HP bar will have a red skull on either side of its HP bar. Anyone know what it means?

not sure since i havent played on a non level 80 alt recently, but that may just be an indicato that the enemy has higher level than you and therefore is dangerous?

Yeah never seen that either. Since they took off the Level indicator on enemies, which used to have a color indicating the difficulty, this may be a replacement.

Also, maybe it's a Character Level difference, but it could also be an Item Level difference.

I assume it would indicate the enemy to too hard to kill. I take it, that is not the case here? What has me puzzled is the icon to the right, used on players, to indicate when they have resurrection sickness.

Beats me. I've been leveling up my character using the standard gear that the quests give. However, I do have several purple companions increasing my companion bolster and several account-wide legendary mounts increasing my mount bolster. So, my item level should be above what is expected if anything.

The very first time I saw that weird HP bar was in fact on the Sleeping Dragon Bridge. At one point along the bridge an undead knight charges at you. When I got him off his horse, his horse had that HP bar with the skulls.

As for general difficulty while leveling up, I'd say thar it's harder than when I first started playing the game way back in Mod 2. This character is a healer-build cleric and it really hearkens back to the days when my first cleric struggled to do her quests. It was a bit easier then, though, because we had some in-combat regen and the aggro radius wasn't set to this sadistically large value. And, for healers, we had ***Astral Seal***, whose value cannot be understated.

The current designer isn't the same one who designed Mod 6, is he? I sure hope not, but I'm beginning to wonder. That mod was a sadistic piece of work. You can imagine what I think of the designer.

I'm currently level 62, working my way through the Chasm quests, and I'm having a tough time with it. I had an XP booster sitting in the bank which is why my level has increased so much. I'm seeing players at standard level having to group up to do these quests.

Mobs under the original pre mod 6 scaling had those skull icons on the left side of the HP bar. It replaced the mob's level. It was only on the one side though.
