Combat Companions

There are many good combat companions in the new mod. They do not do as much damage as Xuna/Chicken in the previous Mods, but can still contribute to the overall performance of DPS, TANK, and HEALERS. I tested all combat companions on test server except for 41 of them. Here are a few suggestions for starting combat companions for players that want to explore them.

1. Xuna
2. Succubus/Incubus
3. Splinters
4. Renegade Evoker
5. Wayward Wizard

These companions are good for AoE, but only Xuna is decent at single target. If you don't have Xuna, consider Vicious Dire Wolf, Quickling, or Flame Spire for single target situations. These companions may not be the best out there... but they are good for anyone needing a suggestion.

    Well, i guess that only works if you have a companion bolster close to 100%, otherwise even those "combat" companions will rather be a hindrance then an actual help.

    I did a similar test on the Preview with a 30k IL Fighter in Avernus, and while my IL went up to 36k, my Chicken/Soradiel/Succubus/Xuna were bloody useless, i had to switch back to my Black Dragon Ioun Stone to prevent even regular mobs from simply melting me during fights.

    From their blogs and videos i was like:
    "Hey, those changes shouldn't be a problem, i have some decent equipment, enchantments, companions/companion equipment/runestones, mounts/insignias, so it should work out more or less fine, right?"
    Boy, was i wrong...

    Harvester of Nightmares is also going to be really interesting from now on...
    I do believe in killing the messenger...

    I LOVE Wayward Wizard! He's the companion I've kept summoned the longest. Highly recommend. He's a bit annoying at first, like most companions, but he's actually pretty useful and deals a good amount of damage later on.

    I have to agree with you, the wayward wizard is actually one companion that does help a lot in a fight, most others hold back and don't seem to want to get hurt lol.

    Weirdly enough, I didn't see much difference in that. It's the first thing I did Yesterday and it gave me the impression that the change hadn't affected much of the gameplay. But I will quote you, "Boy, I was wrong…"

    Well, the real fun part is going to start with day 14, but the bonus round atm. can be challenging depending on what combination of bosses you get, i had a few close calls this morning with my characters around 28k IL, and it definitely took longer to play through all waves then yesterday too.

    And one more thing to think about, who's going to spend more money on the game from now on? Until now it felt like they were relying on new players to toss them some coins, since vet. players have pretty much everything they need, but going by the current feedback from new players in game and on other forums, i doubt that's going to happen anymore...

    Anyway, unless they do some swift adjusting, they're probably going to lose a lot of players over this mess.

    I found bosses (and additional round) longer to beat but not really harder, and waves almost unchanged, though I must say I am around 36k IL
