Metallic Dragonborn: Not possible to convert to appearance library item; other races work

It is not possible to add some gear to the transmutes library if you are a metallic dragonborn (not tested with normal one). I tried the same equipment piece once as metallic dragonborn and once as gith. I was able to add it to the library as gith. The option was disabled as dragonborn.

Metallic Dragonborn:

Dragonborn does not take the head piece (because of its big head, I think) like the other race. It is known since more or less day 1 of Dragonborn. Most of the head piece does not work with Dragonborn.

My conspiracy theory (without any proof) is they don't want everyone picks Dragonborn as a race because of its better stat. This makes sure its ugliness is shown as the trade off and you can't hide that by a helmet.

They do want you to buy Dragonborn, they need the money. If more helmets worked, their revenue might go up more.

Why are you so overreacting? Wizards of the Coast does not allow Cryptic to use most of their hat transmutes on Dragonborn. No clue why but it is an D&D license issue. That's the official statement they gave some years ago.

Nevertheless, I think it should be possible to add hat transmutes to the transmute library regardless of the race. Now I have equipment in my storage that I want to convert but can't because of my race...

Allowing transmute to be converted to appearance library of the character that can't use the item at all means you basically trash the item (instead of passing to another character or convert to coin or RP or selling it). A lot of people would be very upset for "trashing" the item for that 'mistake'.

That does not stop people buying Dragonborn. That can deter people making every characters they have as Dragonborn (my conspiracy theory). I bought Dragonborn when it was first introduced and I only have one Dragonborn in the 6 characters I play. In addition, I bought Dragonborn pack (after I already got Dragonborn ability) because of its account wide bag and not because of Dragonborn.

I do not trash the item. In my case I simply wanted to put the item into the library and later on change my race so I can use the hat transmute.

For you, with that specific 'treatment', you can recover it from 'trash'. For most folk, the item would go to la la land.
