After editing one of my own posts (I added a wink emoticon), the post was taken down to be evaluated

I had made a pun in the post, and after saving it I thought a wink emoticon would fit nicely after the pun but now the page cannot be found with a 404 error when I try to access it from an external source where I'd posted the discussion. If posts are taken down for a breach of forum rules, does the poster get notified with a reason? I'm just wondering if there is a bug, or if I may see my post return, or if I need to repost the topic.

Typically you'll get a warning via a private message if you did something they'd prefer you not to~
