Question: how to dismiss vanity pets

Can anyone please tell me how to dismiss a vanity pet?

I summoned one to see what it looked like, but it quickly became annoying. I do not want to summon a different one, I want to get rid of it. I tried right-clicking on the icon in the vanity pets tab but there is no option for dismissing. I also already tried discarding the pet altogether, but even after doing that it is still following me.

    I think double clicking it again unsummons it.

    Yes, double click. It counts down and it appears.

    Right click -> "use" also works to bring it up and take it out.

    Easiest way to dismiss them is to never call them up.
