Protectors bounty quest not updating

I did it on 2 other toons and all i did was stand at the gate and it auto updated as soon as the merchant arived at the end. Now on my cleric i have attempted 3 times found 2 purple box each time and been the one to start the quest but no update. Anyone know how to fix this bug.

    I guess the quest was not showing the update but i was able to turn it in anyway.

    IMO, that update is a bug or at least, works against me. It takes away one chance to start the merchant. Hence, less reward. The update is supposed to happen when you talk to the merchant to start him.
