Sun of Sune?

I don't know what the Sun of Sune is next to the current Hell Pit event. Is it just decorative? Does this tie in with the story in a way that I'm missing? Is this an item that you can earn?

    I believe it is from last weeks event. The event vendor NPCs usually hang around for a few days after an event ends and they all stand and hold up that same pillar at the edge of the event platform.

    Nope, the sun is behind and to the left of the quest giver.

    I agree. The sun of sune (orb) does not make any sense. It is not an after event vendor. Just an object behind the "stage".
