Cannot set Headset as default output

For a long time I got used to using the speakers for my audio output, but recently I've wanted to use my headset for all game output. I can change the setting in game and it works fine, but if I close and restart the game the audio has reverted back to using the pc speakers. I have tried different ways to try to get the game to use the headset as default to no avail.

I use the computer and speakers for other projects and I don't want to have to pull the headset out every time. I'm using standard 1/8" plug with my front sound card for both mic input and audio output. Is there a way to fix this on my side, or is it something to do with the game searching for default devices and using them, instead of using the settings the user has selected?

I have a headset and a camera w/speaker set up on my comp. I generally use the headset for sound. There are times that if I forget to turn off the camera (plugged in to a USB hub with on/off buttons for each slot) that the game will default to the camera.

What my problem is, I leave my headset plugged in and use my speakers for normal windows operations and have been using the headset, recently, for ingame sounds. When I change it in game to the headset it works fine for the time the game is running. When I close the game and start again at a later time, the option for using the headset in game has changed back to using PC speakers. So this option is not saving the changes in game and must be using the default windows setting for the sound options. It would be nice to not have to change this setting every time I start the game

I agree. The speaker on the camera sucks, which is why I have to make sure the camera is off. Not to mention the random complaints in party about a hot mic.
