What equipment should I give my companions?

There's only 3 slots. Should I get armor and a weapon and something else? Or should I get jewelry or what? Suggestions please.

    The 'type' of item is only flavor text. It has no game effect What you are looking for is that you have pet gear that gives you the stats you need, transferred through the bonding runestones. So if your character needs armor penetration, your pet gear should have that stat on it.

    I would suggest 3 bondings and as for the gear I would suggest looking at what stats that you do not have capped and go for those. Let that pet help you get your stats capped.

    Not that important until you hit level 80. First get to level 70 and get the quest scroll behind Sgt. Knox. That will get you free Companion equipments and full level 70 set to get you through the Undermountain campaign (to level 80).

    The important thing is to procure 3x Rank 9 Bonding Runestones. I don't know their current price. They are normally cheap at rank 9 level from lockboxes.

    Once you get to level 80, then you can start picking your build and stats etc.
