Companions

Hi everyone! Curious as to what companions seem to help the barbarian with boosting Power and are there any recommendations for which summoned companion may be best? Thanks in advance.

I'm just covering the augments as they seem BiS from what I've seen.
The augments that give 1000 Power as enhancement are as following:
    - Bulette Pup (Creature): 1k Power, Combat Advantage and Defense
Clearly the best as it's the only one that gives good stats that are not easily capped.
    - Quasit (Mystical): 1k Power, Defense and Accuracy
Probably the 2nd best pick as it gives 2 offensive stats, though Accuracy is easily capped (I went with this one because I'm poor and was the one that gave power and gave me the most Bolster)
    - Owlbear Cub (Beasts): 1k Power, Critical Strike and Awareness
There's an argument to go this one over quasit as you are most likely capped on Defense and Accuracy and are not in Awareness
    - Star of Simril (Mystical): 1k Power, Critical Avoidance and Awareness
Same as Owlbear Cub but Critical Avoidance is a stat you're also unlikely to be capped. It's up to you how useful these stats are.

I'd take into account the bolster (you need 5 Legendary companions of a category to get max 15% bolster) when deciding to pick.
The best would be the Bulette Pup but I don't have many decent Creature companions at decent rank.

You can check this spreadsheet though. It's got great info:

Having 3 def, 1 off, 1 utility will be your next choices after you pick summoned. A cheaper alternative to Bulette pup is Deepcrow hatchling. It's also an augment, but doesn't have the optimal 1k bonuses like bulette. I think most are going to get the deepcrow for the 6k power at epic and 8k at leg on the offense slot. It's on the bar store, already at purple, but if going to use him for the 6/8k power, you can use him until you get bulette ready. On the def slots, the most power is the Minstrel(4k at leg), Ioun stones(2k at leg). Also several give 4k combat adv at leg, and were cheaper options since I didn't have to upgrade, laughing skull and phase spider. Also I looked for crit sev on def companions and found Splinters goes to 4%. On utility slot, alpha compy gives 5% power, but most don't have. Mercenary gives 4k power/2k combat adv. To fill in creature bonus, Cockatrice is a cheap option that is epic, can be bought cheaper with a mysterious chicken egg. If you get the chicken, sell it. If going to use Phase spider for combat adv on def slot, also not a bad pick. Before you go for creature bolster, I'd plan out what you want on your 3 def/1 off slot first and plan it out to try and get benefit from the bolster and the usage on the slots. I'm using Minstrel/Phase spider/Splinters(all at epic) on def for now. The ioun stones give some power, but upgrading them for 500 power each time is costly, and they don't help bolster.

    Summoned:
Bulette Pup, BD Ioun Stone, Deepcrow

    Offense:
Whatever covers what you need, a Power Companion like the Deepcrow or something that provides a good DoT or Damage addition power like Death Slaad.

    Defense:
A good set is; Fey Panther, Rust Monster and Phase Spider. Use whatever fits for you.

    Utility:
Energon. You can use what you want but Energon is just great for everything.

I wouldn't bother with rust monster anymore, to be honest. Now 10% chance to proc on encounter...and stacks 3 times. With the cooldowns being what they are, and 10%, don't think it's ever going to proc very much. Game needs to rework which comps can go on off/def/utility. I don't care about the 3 def slots that much, but if it's going to be 3 of our 5, at least give some more options.
    Quick breakdown:
    39 comps do Def
    12 Off/def
    17 def/utility

    56 comps do offense
    12 off/def
    24 off/utility

    36 comps do utility.

So if we have to slot 3 defense, we get a smaller pool than the other classes that get 3 offense, or 2 off, 2 utility. Get to choose from total of 68 comps for those 3 def spots. Offense gets to choose from 92. Utility gets to choose from 77. The abilities they provide is one thing, but giving DPS classes 24 more options for their 3 offense choices gives them much more options. Same with utility, more options for utility than def, 77 vs 68. Bad enough have to use 3 def, but then to have less options makes it even worse.

Which ioun stone gives power from defense slot? I've got Black Dragon and it has no defense slot capability....

This lack of offense slots is a real problem. I prefer to play melee fighter types, and dps. All melee fighter types are gimped by the 3 defense slot mumbo-jumbo. I recently switched to CW for main, and it has all power companions, plus power from summoned.

Ioun stone of might I think does 4k deflect/2k power at leg, and iou stone of allure does 2k power/10% incoming healing.

Thanks for that. The two are lesser power companions, but they round out my stable.
