Profession levels increases not tracking Artisan level gains

For batch jobs - when I delivered the items from the Delivery Box, my Artisan skill levels went from 70 to 80, but the corresponding skill level only advanced to level 71. It appears that not all the profession experience earned is being applied to the overall skill level.

I now have several artisans close to level 80, but unable to create items above level 73 because the skill level did not advance.

I know there are mechanisms in place to advance lower artisans quickly (they make something that gives 1000 xp but are granted the equivalent of 12000 xp so they quickly rise from, say, level 44 to 60 using only 400 morale). Once they hit the skill level (e.g. 62) the Xp from making something is as stated and they advance at the same rate as the skill. I have never before seen an artisan allowed to be more skilled than the category.

Not 100% sure, but I would say that prior to the patch the system was increasing you artisan experience in the background, although this does appear to have been maybe in the last week or so. I had several of my artisans at various levels (71-80) post the patch across all my toons (admittedly, I did not check them until after emptying the box), but the profession skill level did not advance until later. The odd part is that it was not consistent - several of my heavily used artisans were not advanced to the level I would expect. They were advanced, just not to 80.

Might is not always right - the powerful sometimes forget that.

Mine as well. Can't gather higher materials, so I've hit a brick wall.

Some images as examples of what I am seeing:

Gathering: Needed to reach level 71

My Gatherer, Eland, with lots of experience that should be credited to the Gathering total

My expectation (after a 3 hour wait) is that gathering one Adamantine Ore will push the experience into the Gathering total and I should be at level 73. Sadly it is a 3 hour wait, so I'll post later.

Meanwhile on another character, I have Alchemy at level 73 thanks to the work overnight of Unkra.
You can see the required experience to get to level 74 here:

In this case I have two artisans with tons of experience ready to create one Fish Oil using Morale so we can quickly see if their experience is applied to the Alchemy skill properly.
    Here is Sten -

    And here is Lee -

Doing the math, that is a total of 5,104147 experience, enough to move Alchemy close to level 80.

Holding our breath, we push the button for Sten to make the Fish Oil .... which normally provides 24, 482 professional experience.

... Well, Sten advanced to level 73

But the Alchemy skill did not receive/apply all of Sten's experience, only the 24,482 from making today's Fish Oil ...

and I the Alchemy skill does not benefit from any of the experience Sten had 'banked' prior to this patch.

I switched to Oil of Vitriol from MW I for Lee, just so I get more Xp should it 'fail'/do the same thing...

Here is the evidence of the XP granted by the Vitriol

Here is the change to Alchemy

And here is the change to Lee ...

he is now level 75 - more than I can say for Alchemy skill...

It appears that the Artisan leveling is independent from the profession category leveling process. I *have* observed lower level artisans being granted 10x the items resulting experience if they are successful just to bring them up to the profession skill level. [NOTE: I am *not* asking that the artisan advancement be limited to the item creation XP]

    Expected Result:
Artisan experience gained by crafting should be applied to the Profession level XP pool.

Artisans are getting credit for XP they hained prior to the patch. I have a number showing as over the XP required to level up, but until they actually complete a task, they remain lev 70. Profession levels didn't benefit from this prepatch XP and thus are lagging behind. I have some artisans that hit level 80 yesterday and yet my highest profession is level 75.

You should be able to check this using an artisan with no overflow XP and track the gain both for them and for the skill level.

You do understand that the Group (gathering or artisan class) and each artisan is using the same leveling track. If you only have 1 artisan in a class then they will roughly track the class when leveling, BUT if you are using multiple artisans or gatherers the class will go up by the total of all class tasks and each artisan will only go up when they are employed.

.... which results in the Class level 'normally' being higher than the Artisan level (because it is the aggregate experience). That is the point, until this patch/mechanic was introduced, all the Artisan experience was added to the Class experience and an Artisan was never at a higher level than the Class. Suddenly/now it is, hence the 'bug' report.
