Mod 17 would have been better if it did nothing but bring back the Foundry

Seriously. A teensy-tiny new map, a trial that only the elites can run, and a new PvP map? Wake me when there's something worthwhile. You would have been better off spending all that effort doing nothing but giving the Foundry a solid foundation with your new "rewritten" game engine. The game would have been better. Instead we have...this, which is really just phoning it in.

Wake me when you actually DO bring back a newer, better Foundry.

Don't say never. The Mimic King wants it to return, They'll find some way, but probably not any time soon. Captain Geko on the STO team said that the problem is that it needs rebuilt from scratch. which would take over a year and require them to divert resources from other projects.

So let me get this right. Your advice to the company is to bring back a system that was removed because it wasn't worth the time sunk into it instead of a "mod with little content you can do or that interests you"?

And how would that work out for the console markets? Oh I know, no mod 17 at all for consoles! Blessing or a curse? Who knows.

Wake me when you can run ToMM and have something to do.

It would not be impossable though. especialy if they allowed volounters to help tweak it (open source). I know a few people who would probably be willing to do so. I still have all my old foundry quests stored on my machine and have a few recorded on the foundry and ugc youtube channel.

If anyone missed it, the Foundry was destroyed roughly 6 months ago. This was, by far, the only "unique thing" about this cookie cutter MMO. But now, we have to move on but how do we do that? I said my eulogy for the Foundry this past weekend. My psychiatrist tells me I have trouble letting go... I need to bury things in the past. So I held a contest and the Foundry is no more. Cryptic has been told by several people they could have raked in a ton of cash, but they blew their chance. Sorry to tell you this @markhawkman but Mr. Foss is a damn good used car salesman. @auron#6793 while nothing is "impossible" Cryptic made the choice to stab all those Foundry authors in the back, so many left long ago and do you believe for one minute, if they announced the return of the Foundry, any of them would return? Would you really trust Cryptic to trash all your work again? That is what it boils down to Thomas Foss and all of Cryptic has lost my trust. Who knows, this time next week, I might not have an account because they needed to delete stuff to make the game better.

Mod 17 would have been better if the devs would have resolved the class imbalance issues for damage dealer, adjusted content based on that fix.

With that said, it hopefully will come sooner than later.

John Carmack did it correctly. Open source. He did this with Quake and Doom . For the love of the game, make it so.

I have no doubt a system like that could work from someone competent. My point was more of....I don't think this is the place to make it happen. As you said, I have no faith in them.
