Companion Gear

So i realize new companion gear is in game, about 800 IL, and they can only be obtained by doing lv 70-80 expeditions as far as i know, and don't drop in ME.
I did not get any companion items when doing these so im still stuck with the old 400 IL companion gear and i'd very much like to get my hands on this additional 1200 IL to be able to run LOMM.

Is there any way to obtain new companion gear when on level 80 ?
Companion boxes, some way to run those old expeditions, with a leveling friend maybe if they drop from bosses, and not from quest ?

Any input is very much appreciated, thank you very much.

So there is a method to farm 3x 800 IL companion items to boost your IL by 1200 if you're still sitting on old companion gear like i was.

To obtain these items you will have to go to varakdoom and revisit a dungeon from the questline, if you are still doing the campaign pay close attention to the questline and if the item drops since its auto added to inventory because you can still farm this for yourself.
If you have already completed the campaign and need the item you can farm them with a friend or a random who's doing the questline in varakdoom, or simply help someone out with their campaign.

Once someone in your party has the quest for last dungeon of the questline, Umbraxakar's Lair start the quest with them, the player who has the quest can play alongside you or disconnect if they're helping you get the items.
Simply go through the dungeon, continue doing objectives until you reach the first boss, Keresta.
Before keresta fight starts everyone except the player who needs the item can disconnect, and reconnect once again when she's dead, or everyone can be online and play the RNG

When the boss dies item will be sent directly to one person's inventory, there will be no rolls, nor loot on ground so pay atention to your inventory.
After that you do not need to continue with the dungeon, if you want to farm more, everyone who has the quest would have to drop it, leave the party, and go to their character selection and back. This will send everyone back to the bridge where you first entered the dungeon. Simply retake the quest and continue farming until you have the set.

Note that if you're playing with randoms it would be a good idea to friend them, all chats are wiped after relog and you can forget their name (like i did lol, sorry guy i never found again !!)

Companion gear that drops has ~800 IL (writing during maintenance) and comes with accuracy and combat advantage stats.

Outside of the 3 pieces you get from Obaya if you collect all the relics during the campaign expeditions, I haven't seen any.

This is a drama, I know that.
During the undermountain campaign you can obtain 3 pieces of pet set.
1) from Obaya after the third campaign expedition (toward Terminus), but only if you have found all the 9 relics
2) dropped from penultimate boss, during the last dungeon of the campaign (see that if you are in party, the item will be dropped just for one random)
3) given from people at the third floor of the Yawning Portal, when you give back the last quest of the campaign

So, if you didn't find all the relics, and you were in a party during the last dungeon, maybe you won't have 2 of the 3 purple pet items.
No way to have them back, no way to re-play the campaign.
Maybe, but JUST MAYBE, you can try to enter with a friend during the last dungeon, then he has to quit, and you have to go thru by yourself, killing the penultimate boss by yourself alone.
I will try that.
Or... maybe someone could cry out loud with Cryptic... to have second chances XD

It does seem odd to have fairly significant items, which are sort of part of their 'new companion system' showcase, drop in such a limited and easy-to-miss fashion.

Given standard Cryptic design approaches, I would expect if they spent time designing/putting in content, they would also have a way to repeat-play in order to get that content (what most call 'grinding').

There were three pieces of companion gear (il644) in the starter gear Neverember gives you when you start the campaign. I have received three more pieces (2×il644, 1×il805) just playing through the campaign, 2 while questing in Wyllowwood and the third from either finishing Wyllowwood or at some point in Terminus. I have heard you can get other pieces from the expeditions, but thought they were the master expeditions with runes.

If I remember correctly, you get one from the ME in Terminus and one in the ME from Vanrakdoom. My 3 toons all have ilev 805 comp gear, just from completing the campaign.

I have ran the dungeon with my friends and a couple of randoms and can confirm the piece is farmable
I have edited the original post with how to get the companion gear!
