Artisans and Workshop questions

This has probably been asked before but im going to again sorry.

So every day i get new artisans applying to work in my shop. So what i have figured out so far is *I THINK* the blue ones have a higher proficiency then the green or white ones and the couple purples i have should be higher even still. But im guessing so my questions are.

1. What makes a purple better than blue better than green etc
2. Are all blue artisans equal save commission / time stats ?
3. I like cheap artisans but getting that -75% commission guy going to cost me in quality somehow ?
4. Last but most importantly short of selling my soul to AI is there a better way then selling green equipment to make gold ?

    1. On average in regards to skills (proficiency and focus), rare (blue) are better than common (white), and epic (purple) are better than rare. Not always the case but close enough.

    2. Equal to what? Each other? No. Skills and modifiers are random. You may find two that are similar, but there will still be a difference.

    3. It will usually cost you in the speed modifier. Cheaper artisans tend to take longer. Unfortunately, not every profession has a -75% commission artisan.

    4. There are items you can craft and sell to the neverwinter merchants for profit.

I guess the follow up question would be. How much do they gain per level and can you caluclate what they will come out at level 70 with in terms of prof and focus ?

@mdarkangel#4696 Thank you so much for your advice and the link. This has taken away allot of the mystery of the new crafting system.
